I started getting a sore throat and low-grade fever on Monday evening. I used my home remedy... sipping whiskey... and it worked great. Need more information on that.

Need more information on that. Any strong alcohol will do. I prefer whiskey/bourbon/scotch. Start at the first sign of a "tickle" in the throat (i.e. - the sooner the better). Method 1: Just put a few ounces in a glass and sip, directing the swill to the part of the throat that hurts. Chill the alcohol if you prefer, but don't serve on-the-rocks (due to dilution). Repeat every couple hours, or as necessary. Method 2: Get blasted. Drink like a sailor until 3am. The object of this method is to show the virus who's boss. You will literally feel the instant when the virus says "I didn't sign up for this. I'm outta here!".

M: 5.3-mile road run. Alternated fast pace with normal pace. Tu: Move 1.5 tons of crushed stone 10 feet, in order to open access to one of our garage bays. An exercise in futility. I wish I could have just brought it to the work area, but my lawn has been a muddy mess for 8 weeks now due to one of the worst stretches of weather in my memory. W: Work in the field. A lot of walking. Th: I don't remember... but I don't think I did anything after working late. F: P90X lower body plyo workout. I was literally falling asleep when my neighbor called to ask if I wanted to work out. I didn't, but knew I should. Sa: 3-mile(?) hilly hike/run to explore a new parcel purchased by our local State Park. Despite the foot of snow on the ground, I could have run the entire time... but my partner isn't in as good shape as me. Light yard work. Su: Light yard work / prep the yard for the coming flood.
Here's my average weight and resting heart rate for the past few weeks: 9/30-10/6: 178.1 47 (was 46 throughout July/Aug/Sept) 10/7-10/13: 180.5 47 10/14-10/20: 180.2 48 10/21-10/27: 179.6 48 10/28-11/3: 182.3 50 11/4-11/10: 181.3 48 11/11-11/17: 182.7 48 11/18-11/24: 183.7 51 11/25-12/1: 184.8 51
Most of those gains are due to a ridiculous weight gain on one day (such as last Tuesday when I gained 3.5 lbs in 10 hours), then a slow decline the remainder of the week. Happens every year. Don't understand why*. Same with heart rate.
*I know my diet hasn't been great, but not so bad as to be in that much of a calorie surplus. Plus, the quick weight gains point to water weight. I'm just not sure why it happens when it does.

M: 5.5-mile road run up/down an 800 ft hill. In a snowstorm. Felt good. Tu: Son's chorus recital immediately after work, then family visiting for a couple hours. Right knee a little sore. W: Work in the field. About 4 miles of walking through the woods. Th: Don't remember. Probably nothing since I only burned 2,200 calories. F: "Polar Express" train ride immediately after work. Sa: Cut down Xmas tree in morning. Burpees during the SU basketball game (5 sets of 20). Light yard work. Xmas party in evening. Burned 3,000 calories. Su: Light yard / house work. Burned 2,900 calories.
My average weight and resting heart rate for the past few weeks: 9/30-10/6: 178.1 47 (was 46 throughout July/Aug/Sept) 10/7-10/13: 180.5 47 10/14-10/20: 180.2 48 10/21-10/27: 179.6 48 10/28-11/3: 182.3 50 11/4-11/10: 181.3 48 11/11-11/17: 182.7 48 11/18-11/24: 183.7 51 11/25-12/1: 184.8 51 12/2-12/8: 185.4 50
I ate well during the weekdays, except for ice cream Wednesday night. I did a good job of choosing healthy food for dinner on Friday (Panera), refusing donuts/fritters and hot cocoa at Xmas tree place, and eating just a light dinner before the Xmas party and eating sensibly at the party (a few meatballs, a few slices of kielbasa, and a cookie). I also started counting calories and was either even or in a calorie deficit each day. Despite that, I still gained weight. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm reacting poorly to dairy or something else. I thought perhaps low vitamin D but I'm getting at least 100% most days from supplements alone.

We just did our usual walks/hikes of 3-5 miles per day for 5 days last week. I also moved 800 lbs of commercial fitness equipment down 5 flights of stairs, into my truck, and then from my truck into our basement. Both times I felt like I had just done a dozen sets of heavy deadlifts when I was done. Anyway, that was part of the home gym I'm in the process of building as I want to get back into lifting. I had enough of all the s**t that goes along with a public gym and having been a bona fide gym rat for nearly a decade means I know exactly what I'm looking for.
