I estimate I've now been stung 16x in 3 weeks. All but one from underground yellow jackets. Seems like an application of gasoline and fire is in order.

Friday: hike Saturday: kayak Sunday: bike
The last two and a half days the weather was absolutely spectacular for this time of year - temps 75-80, dew point in the 50s to low 60s. It was waaaayyyyyyyyyy too nice outside to even think about going to the gym. That's for the ugly days.
Life is settling down, knock wood. Tryin' to get back in a healthy groove.

Hiya Reuben! You can start by taking that cigarette out of your mouth! I had a pretty crazy week last week. M: I attempted to run on the treadmill. I got fed up after a mile when it and my watch said I was going way slower than normal (normal being an outside run) and I felt like I was really pushing myself. So, I quit after about 1.3 miles. Yoga class on Monday evening for 1.5 hours. Tu: Run 4.1 miles outside. Much better than the dreadmill. W: Rest Th: Lap Swim, only about 450 yards. I decided to start completely over with beginner freestyle drills to try and correct some bad habits I picked up while just trying to survive the swim. F: Run 2 miles. Trying to get my body back into an everyday activity mode. Sa: AM dog walk for 2.6 miles (at 8,000') with 500' elevation gain. PM Run with a neighbor up by her place (at 9,000'), 4 miles with elevation gain of 250'. Su: Road biked with the hubby 25.53 miles. I'm really feeling the saddle. Need to figure a few things out.

In like a lion, out like a lamb.
M: Bike commute 16 miles. Trail run 5 miles... matched 2 PRs and set a new one on hill segments, without even trying. Calf wasn't 100% but behaved. Still worried about it. Tu: Bike commute 19 miles. Walk dog 1.5 miles. W: "Spartan" workout (see above post). Calf got crampy/sore/stiff by end of workout. Th: Bike commute 28 miles. F: Bike commute 13 miles. Walk dog 1.5 miles. Sa: Light yard work. Bike ride 4 miles with my son. Burned 3,000 calories... didn't track calories eaten. Su: Light yard work. Burned 3,000 calories... didn't track calories eaten.
M-F calories in / out: 3,127 / 1,973
Weight still slowly but steadily decreasing... down around 10 lbs since Fathers Day. But (expectedly) shot up today after pounding food this weekend.
I'm feeling so run-down, especially on weekends. I had insatiable hunger. I think I've been calorie deficit for too long without a break... so this weekend, break I did. I think I'm also chronically dehydrated. I've been prolifically sweating nearly everyday for 3+ months now. And this week the heat index is forecast to at or above 100 again.
And my still semi-wonky calf isn't helping my motivation.
My work schedule won't allow me to ride by bike on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, which is the one exercise I've been able to do in the hot weather. No idea what I'll do with such high temps. Maybe just try to push through while monitoring my effort.
ETA: On the positive side, if it's 100 degrees during the Spartan Race, I'll be ready!!!

Hiya Reuben! You can start by taking that cigarette out of your mouth! I'm thinking of bringing back a cycling tradition. Need a wool jersey and goggles to complete the ensemble. And toe clips.

Back in the day one of the reasons they smoked was because they thought it opened up their lungs, making the climbs a bit easier.
