@idahowalker , msdoolittle ... if you can stomach them during a workout, 1 oz of potato chips provide about 5x the potassium of salt pills/chews. 1 oz potato chips (about 15 chips): Calcium........6.7mg....1% Iron...........0.5mg....3% Magnesium......18.8mg...5% Phosphorus.....46.2mg...5% Potassium......357mg...10% Sodium.........170mg....7% Zinc...........0.3mg....2% Copper.........0.1mg....4% Manganese......0.1mg....6% Selenium......2.3mcg....3% Read More nutritiondata.self.com/facts/snacks/5662/2#ixzz4kl0RUEpY Low sodium V8 is also a good alternative, and on long (12+ mile) runs I'll bring a small bottle of V8 in lieu of the same volume of water.

M: Walk dog 1 mile in morning, 5-mile road run in evening. First road run in months. Tu: Spilt and stack a half-cord of wood. W: Abs during the World Series game. Th: Work at the Legoland NY construction site, then a 5.5-mile trail run on the Long Path. 1500' of elevation gain and I felt strong. F: Nada Sa: Abs during the World Series game. Su: Trail run 4 miles with my daughter. 20 minutes of a P90X workout.
I got a flu shot on Monday. Fri/Sat/Sun I wasn't feeling 100%... slight fever, aches, swollen lymph glands near the shot, resting pulse rate jumped a couple beats, and I gained a couple of pounds. I'd say I was a slug on Friday, Saturday, and the first half of Sunday, but that would be offensive to slugs.
Oh, and other than Thursday, the weather was fantastically horrible.

V8 is also a good alternative Oi! That V8 looks good on that K. I might start picking some up again. I use V8, low salt, for when I cook beef stew. I use K pills for most of my K intake. My blood pressure medicine strips K and the best way to replace it is with straight up K or I get some fierce cramps.

I edited my post to specify low-sodium V8. Regular V8 has less potassium (though still a good source).

M: Run 5 miles. Tu: Bike commute 15 miles. W: Hilly 4-mile trail run. Walk a mile with kids for Halloween. Beer and donuts for dinner! Still within my allotted calorie intake though. Th: Rest day. F: Busy with light activity all day, then drive 3 hours to hotel. Sa: Walk around West Point then watch Army football game. Drive 4 hours home. Su: Light activity most of the day. Spilt and stack 1/2 cord of wood.
Gained a few pounds, then lost a couple. Same thing every year at this time. Appetite increases. Ability to do cardio decreases. There is also one week where I just gain an absurd amount of weight (last year it was 7 lbs), which I can only attribute to water weight. Interestingly, I now see a pattern that my resting heart rate also increases dramatically every year in late October / early November.
Also, the last few weeks have just been constant rain. Literally like 25 of the past 30 days. Everything squishes when I walk on it.

I got nothin' last week. Nada.
Work seemed to ruin things every time I even had an inkling to do anything.
Saturday I did manage a 3 mile dog walk in the snow with 513' elevation. Sunday we did a very, very short 1 mile hike with the dogs with 200' elevation. Cut it short due to Katy-dog getting the shivers. It was pretty chilly and windy.
I let my eating habits get pretty out of hand last week. Completely off the "Keto Train". Too much candy and sugar temptations around the office. Back on track as of yesterday. Need to continue the momentum. I feel like a slug.

A lot of sitting at my desk, and a fair amount of running-around instead of running.
M: I was the only one to show up for our Monday night run club. Probably because it was 40 and raining. I felt good though. 5 miles. Tu: Stay home with the kids (no school). Miserable outside... 35 and hard rain. W: Bike commute 12 miles Th: It stopped raining long enough for the company to deliver our new 12x20 shed! Ab workout while watching the Steelers game. F: Literally sat at my desk all day at work. While watching the SU football game, I decided to do 2 burpees for every point scored. I picked a helluva game. Final score was 54-23... so 154 burpees! Sa: Nada. Wife's high school reunion. Su: 3.5 mile trail run. Drive to niece's birthday party, then finally home and do some light house work.
Weight up from a couple weeks ago, but down from last week.

M: Bike commute 13 miles. I think I pushed too hard on the way home... breathing the cold air deep into my lungs irritated/burned them. I kept coughing throughout the evening. Cancelled my scheduled evening run. Tu: Heart rate monitor shows I walked for 35 minutes in the evening, but I don't remember what I did. Maybe walk the dog? Tweaked my low back moving plywood. W: I was expecting an office day but I was put in the field, so I froze my butt off. Heart rate monitor shows I also did some kind of exercise in the evening, but I don't remember what. Th: Prep the yard for the first snowstorm of the year and place items in our new shed. Doesn't sound like much but it was 2+ hours of constant movement. F: Shovel and snowblow in the morning. Shovel in the evening. Prep for Saturday's trip. Sa: SU/ND football game at Yankee stadium. Walk around the Bronx a bit. Otherwise, a lot of sitting. Su: Light house/yard work
I obviously need some memory pills.
My low back was a bit sore for 2 days but it healed well and didn't give me any problems.
Weight up another pound. Up 3 since the last week in October. After Thanksgiving, my schedule should calm down a bit allowing for some more extended exercise.

Bad week. Sad that Thanksgiving was probably my best day. I need to get into a better exercise routine. And my diet has been atrocious.
I've been letting weather/darkness provide an excuse for not doing cardio. We had wet snow, which turned into a 6" hardpack of ice, and is now 4" of slush... so trails were definitely out of the question. But I still could have done some running on roads, or a P90X-type workout, or gone to the gym.
A positive note, I started getting a sore throat and low-grade fever on Monday evening. I used my home remedy... sipping whiskey... and it worked great. It was a bit better on Wednesday, and I was close to 100% on Thursday.
M: 5-mile road run Tu: Work in the field... a wet heavy snow falling. Got soaked/cold. Me and my co-worker ate "garbage plates*" for lunch. Probably 1,200-1,500 calories but we earned it. And I was still so full later that I only ate a small dinner. W: Lightly busy throughout the day, burned 2,900 calories Th: 5-mile Turkey Trot in windchills close to 0F, walk 1 mile to get picked up, run 0.5 miles around in-laws loop road. I didn't totally pig-out. F: I was a slug, and I ate 1/3 of a pecan pie throughout the day. Sa: Light yard/house work Su: Light yard/house work
*A Rochester, NY delicacy... 2 hamburgers atop home fries and macaroni salad, all smothered with a spicy meat sauce.

I'm with ya, WWBF. I'm finding it difficult to find motivation right now. And with month end close coming up, it won't be found until about the middle of next week.
November and December are so difficult for me. Every year I go through this....
BUT! I got to hang out with Spindle last week, so it's allllll good! <3
