BTW, been an REI member since 1975. They sure went through a terrible slump in the 1980's, but seem to have pulled out of it and thrived. That's a good thing. It's a fine Co. with an excellent return policy/warranty. Not always the cheapest, but that isn't what everything is always about.

With my dividend & coupon I plan to get the Petzel MYO headlamp. It is rated at 370 lumens. That would be great for reading in my tent at night 9 or in bed at home). I already have a couple of 200 lumen headlamps but when I used to read in bed using them, I was straining my eyes too much. I recently discovered - while at the local Lowes hardware looking for something else - that the old Energizer headlamps I bought in quantity for friends when hiking at night now have a $14.95 version that's 225 lumens (though anyone of any sense at all might just doubt that a bit, given the source), is dimmable, "water resistant" and doesn't now require you to "cycle through" all the lights to turn it off, like the older versions did. I'm thinking I may never buy a "high dollar" headlamp again.

I still have my original Energizer headlamp I bought around a decade ago when I transitioned from dayhiker to backpacker.
It can be found in my toolbag in the garage. It works fine even though the rubber cover over the switch has been missing for a very long time.
At some point I probably bragged in the forum here about my new Black Diamond Spot with 55 lumens! that replaced it.

I used to go to the REI in Denver ~30 years ago when it was in a re-purposed Safeway. The flagship store in downtown Denver is in a re-purposed building. If I remember correctly it was used for some sort of steel manufacturing. It's an interesting building with multiple levels and one ares with a very high ceiling that allows room for a climbing wall.

I used the CC to pay M's Dr bills, so I have a dividend of $475. Not sure I need anything, but will have them cut a check in July for any remainder.

We had a pretty good sized dividend (another credit card user here). I spent a part of it Saturday on bike gear, to replace what was lost when my bike was stolen. I used the coupon, too, as I couldn't think what else we'd be likely to buy from them in the next few weeks.
I do like the suggestion about taking the dividend in cash and using the CC for purchases instead. Just a little more pay-off.
I guess the offspring will need new hiking shoes--probably both of the boys--but we'll do that closer to summer hiking.

You were right, Deborah. The folks at REI let me "return" the boots in house and "re-purchase" them using my dividend and the 20 percent off coupon. Saved about thirty bucks.

Boating, biking, hiking, you will likely go through that with misc items for one or all of your favorite shorts.

Good looking tent. Though I see all of that mesh and get chilled. The first time I camped at elevation - about 10,000 ft - I got far too cold in my tent that had mesh like that.
