The raptors are coming back. I saw a juvenile kestrel yesterday and three brown falcons today. Two from today this falcon was sitting on a distant tree than took to the air and after a bit of a fly about landed on a tree near me. I took a few photos and then it flew away here it is another one was eating a largish lizard on a tree about 200 feet away. BTW, they are a bit sharper on Face Book (Franco Darioli)

At the start of the walk, by the beach, there is a small flock of sparrows located between the raven pair and the seagulls. They usualy fly off as we walk past but this one was too busy eating so I shot it.

Great photos Franco! Nice to see this thread living on. Here's a couple of recent ones. I took this Bushtit photo last month on a trip down in the Vancouver area ... it's a life bird for me. I'm now up to 153 North American birds sighted. I met a fellow at the Rifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary who had his lifetime number up to 820 North American birds!?! If you've ever read/watched 'The Big Year', the high number there was 755 birds for a comparison. This fellow was on Attu Island the same time with the 3 guys the book/movie was based on. Crazy dedication to the hobby, but he sure was super interesting to talk to for a half hour. Bushtit Also another Northern Pygmy Owl ... we spotted this little guy two days after the other photo I posted. It's been a fantastic month for owls up here.

High Seirra ... that link was very cool! Thanks! I’d known, of course, about gps trackers: but solar powered rechargeable gps trackers is new to me. And brilliant! In hindsight as they are a large bird it does seem logical. Some are just started to show up along the east coast refuges so fingers crossed!

Probably an edited picture. Beautiful for sure, but not real in all probability. We have a lot of swans that winter here in n. MO with snow and ice and all. Nothing would make this picture.

We finally had some more rain so some birds are coming back. I had a close encounter with a black kite yesterday, the first time I knowingly seen one here (that is where I walk most days...) The kite flew around me for over 11 minutes but I still did not manage to get one single really nice shot. this is one of the better ones... A willy wagtail posed for me .. and a welcome swallow from the day before

WOW! Thank you all. One from me; a grouse that landed on my lawnmower one day on the ranch one May about 15 years ago. I think she was attracted to the sound of the mower and she followed me around riding on/in pickups and our ATV work vehicle with me for almost two weeks. She didn't want anything to do with other folks on the Ranch and would get between me and other folks if they tried to approach me. Here I am sealing one of the footbridges with her glaring at the photographer. We finally had some males start their calls and that was the last I saw of her that year.

First time I recognised a sparrowhawk here (it's a hobby also known as litle Falcon) I spotted again the black kite and another couple of photos just for fun

Yesterday stopping for a chat with a guy ,going around the park , he pointed at some birds on a fence nearby. I thought I had sees welcome swallows flying about, looking at those perched there I realise that they were a different bird. Turns out that they were Fairy Martins

Our world without birds would be an unfathomable loss of beauty, Alfred Hitchcock notwithstanding.
