I started this thread and now I hate it. Every time someone posts here, I read the post and then want coffee.

I've heard that Cafe Bustelo is a good off the shelf brand - finer/darker than Chock Full O Nuts. I'm not discerning enough to have an opinion.

There are few deliveries more welcome than finding that a globetrotting friend has brought you a freshly roasted Arabica from the other side of the planet.

Via sucks For backpacking or anything other than shoe polish. For now I'm stuck with French Press in my Jetboil. Current favorite coffee: ghosttowncoffee.com/

But honestly, not as badly as most instant sucks. I'd hate to drink it black, but with a good spoonful of Nido it can carry the freight. I'm not willing to carry a coffee maker anymore. Though I might change my mind on a longer trip...

NECTAR. OF. THE. GODS.
I love dark roasted central and South American beans. Always black. Triple espresso is like a cup of water for me.
I did not drink coffee until I was 25,and living in Budapest. They serve Turkish coffee in Central Europe thanks to Ottoman occupation. I am grateful for that.

Via Columbian is surprisingly ok. All the other Vias are slight variations on carbon.
P.S. If it ain't black, it ain't coffee.

I think VIA is just fine, and I would never dream of bastardizing my morning cup of joe with sugar, cream, or any other additives. As a friend of mine used to say, "If you can learn to drink your coffee black, you'll never be disappointed in life." It's not just a beverage, it's a lifestyle choice.

A couple weeks ago I accidendly broke my Melita pour over coffee maker. Basically a glass funnel that sits atop my cup and holds a filter, had the thing for like 25 years. Been using my back up.

Running some of Chicago's Dark Matter: Giant Steps blended down with some Peets: Big Bang, as the Giant Steps was a little too harsh.

On the trail, we usually press something like Peet's Major Dickason in my Jetboil. Always hits the spot on cold camp mornings.

Peets has actually been a go-to since someone brought back the love from Desert Storm. Even though I often venture out, I keep coming back.
