do people really take "naked selfies" in locker rooms? To my great horror, they actually do. I'm surprised this doesn't lead to bloodshed. I almost naked photobombed a naked selfie in the lockerroom. I was not happy.

This year has been the year of strew ones gear all over the pace. We get that now and then. They even recognized that some people are intimidated by locker rooms and added lockers in public space, but some people just insist on creating little minefields. This is my peeve of the day. Most of the New Year's newbies have been well-mannered this year. However, I dislike the guy whose gear is spread from one end of the locker room bench to the other while he paces back and forth texting his buddies and blocking everybody from doing anything. Go sit in your car and do that. The locker room is for changing clothes and getting clean.

Naked selfies in locker rooms is nasty, as for signs well people are all about themselves so yes they ignore the signs.

Why are there TVs in the locker room? I mean, how long are you going to be in there (not counting shower time)?
What's next? A minibar and free peanuts?

Why are there mirrors in the gym?
We all know mirrors don't lie. I am grateful mirrors don't laugh.

I'm giving a big thumbs up to this year's crop of gym newbies. On average, they're a few notches above previous years in being polite and considerate. I think the opening of a big new gym nearby siphoned off a disproportionate share of rude people. My hypothesis is that they care more about being in the newest, fanciest place than does the average member.

I personally dont mind newbies because I see them as foreigners, foreigners to the house of gainz. However, I think there some universal things that you should know no matter where you go. For example, I dont mind if newbies put their water bottle or backpack on a bench, I just ask them if they are using it and they realize they should move it somewhere else and they learned their lesson. However, I just had a teen come in with a bluetooth speaker. Our YMCA weight room is super small and cramped as it is. He not only puts on his music, but puts it up SUPER loud. I have earbuds on and I could hear it higher than my music thats already loud in my ear. Not just that, its like this metal music thats just noise. I mean, look I dont even mind music playing in the room I'm in, but there has to be a limit...

However, I just had a teen come in with a bluetooth speaker. That's a disturbing trend I've noticed in many places.

It's called entitlement. "Hey, I paid my X dollars this month, I can do what I want."
Like the guy who commandeers half of the open space every Saturday morning and even drags a rowing machine over from the other side of the gym. He paid his dues, so he can inconvenience 10 other people for 2 hours. And he spends considerabe time just sitting and talking with his friends, not even exercising.
Grrr...

Once you've got your barbell, step away from the rack to work out! There's a guy standing behind you waiting to put one away, and it looks like about 150 pounds. By the way, because you're blocking him, he's blocking the stairs.

There's a big area set aside for activities like stretching, with mats and everything. Or you could keep doing it in the doorway to the locker room while five people are waiting to get out and five others are waiting to get in.
