Since doing our latest Century back in October, my biking has been back down to transportation, with an occasional 16 or 17-miler for fun and exercise (I'm trying to get back to doing something at least in the 20-mile range once a week, but don't seem to be getting the schedule right).
Meanwhile, I'm building back up to 3-mile runs and mile-plus swims.

I rode my bike 40 miles this morning.I was surprised how early it was when I got back but I just stopped for breakfast and rode back.My timing was off for all my usual stops such as the beach as it was still too early(since I started around 5am).When I ride 65 miles my timing is right for all my usual stops.I guess I need to get my cycling endurance back up.I may try to start doing a 10-15 mile ride early each morning.Any other takers?

I rode 40 miles again today.I felt much better during and after the ride today except for right at the start as I had done a weight workout and eaten so it took me awhile to get into cycling mode.Even though I feel like an intermediate doing 40 mile rides I may continue to do them as I am not as wiped out after the ride as with an all day ride. But, note I often don't end up doing what I say or plan because all my training is instinctive so it all depends on how I feel.I remember I use to set out on bike for a weekend backpacking trip to Lake Okeechobee, Big Cypress or other destinations 15 minutes after deciding usually early Friday morning after a weight training session.Needless to say, I had pretty much everything ready to go just threw a few things in the backpack ,locked the door and took off...

The snow and low temps have finally arrived so I'm afraid the road bike is in storage until spring. However, whenever the pavement is bare, I'll be riding my commuter around town whenever I can.

When I lived in the mountains I never gave much thought to cycling once the ski slopes opened. But,in Florida it is finally getting to be ideal hiking and cycling season. It is currently 77degrees here with a balmy breeze at 2am...

I am between outdoor and indoor riding.
Though this year wasn't what I wanted it to be I use riding my bike as one part of my exercise approach. When it's going best I'm commuting twice a week, which is about all I can handle given my parental and coaching responsibilities. When I'm commuting twice a week and riding once on the weekends it's really humming along.
Last year about this time I changed jobs. That job was too far away for commuting. In that job my entire department was let go so I landed in a spot that is GREAT for commuting. If I go from my house it is 17.5-18 miles by bike, mostly on path. Along the way there are several good places to park and ride if I want or need to shorten that ride. Typically I'll drive across my small town and start out right on the path. That gets rid of a bunch of starting and stopping and puts my commute right at an hour.

I've mostly been using my bike to get to and from the gym, lately. I'm still trying to throw in one 15-20 miler each week (missed it this past week, due to rain--I worked for 2 years as a bike messenger in Seattle. I no longer have any desire to ride in the rain unless I absolutely must).

I've got my bike trainer setup. I'm not alone when I say riding on a trainer is .... difficult. To help with this I've got a laptop setup with an additional monitor. I can watch netflix, ride along with my simulator, music, etc. Anything to distract me.

And that, my friend, is one of the best things about living in the Bay Area. I can (and do) bike on the road year 'round. Though sometimes when it's chilly and damp I prefer to run.

Looking at this thread I have been off my bike for awhile.I don't know why as it's ideal cycling weather down here now(currently 79 expecting a low of 74).And, people want to come down here this time of year to cycle the Keys or wherever.I am at least going to go for a walk now and do plan to start up cycling again soon.I even have power grips to improve my cadence to where it used to be but have neglected to install them yet...

I rode my bike 40 miles this morning. My first ride since Nov 28th.I did pretty well considering my time off the bike, brutal recent weight training schedule and most importantly the fact I had only gotten a couple hours sleep since my last workout.I actually did better on the bike than off but made up for the sleep deficit this afternoon...

I'm in Seattle right now. My Mom does have an old mountain bike I can ride, but so far it's been damp (at least) and in the 40s, so I've been running.

I usually ride 3-4 days per week this time of year, but I'm trying to add some strength days too. Here's today's ride www.strava.com/activities/455751217Planning a training hike with the wife tomorrow since I've got a couple of days off. Kinda hard to balance cycling and hiking since they both take a good amount of weekend time

I rode 72 miles today.Around mile 16 I felt my fat-burning mode kick in and things got easier after that. However, around mile 40 my right knee tightened up so I actually walked with the bike about 5-6 miles to loosen it up(counted in the 72).Also,as most of my usual food stops were closed I started getting slightly tired /hungry for awhile until I found a store open around mile 55 after which I finished fairly strong. However,I am no where near where I was last year around this time and not totally acclimated to the heat/humidity which did pick up in the afternoon with a real feel of 87.My knee is now slightly tight even though I did install the power grips and was able to spin more.I think I need to dial in the adjustment more...
