I learned that in addition to relatively minor hereditary back/spine issues, the early stages of arthritis in my knees, and one leg longer than the other, that I also have one hip higher than the other. That's the bad news. The good news is that it may be related to why I have pain under my opposite shoulderblade after just a couple of hours of hiking.
Gettin' old ain't fun. It's kinda gettin' in the way of pretty much everything I want to do.

I learned there were 1500 lbs grizzlies in California in the 1850's.

I learned that a bad DVD disk can sure jamb up a computer. No way to eject. No way to keep the drive from trying to access the disk. And plays havoc with shutdown and virus protection. Solution (short of a sledge hammer): uninstall the driver for the DVD drive, grab the bad disk when it momentarily ejects, reinstall disk driver and walla. Never do that again.

That's the bad news. The good news is that it may be related to why I have pain under my opposite shoulderblade after just a couple of hours of hiking. I had hip problems due to my minor difference in leg lengths, and I was astounded at how much better my back felt after it was corrected. I didn't realize until that moment that I was in a state of constant discomfort, and had no idea until then what a neutral back felt like. It would have been good to know 20 years earlier.

So, BL, how did you correct it?

I would think that corrective insoles could fix that. See if a cheap insole in the shoe of the short leg helps.
I'm glad to hear that Grizzly Adams was real.
I learned that if you need to get documents to a state agency that doesn't have any way of accepting those documents as an attached file in email, and they lose your fax, you should send it as registered mail and not just regular mail.

Q: What power industry is responsible for more bird deaths... wind or petroleum?
A: Both insignificant compared to the number killed by cats.

So, BL, how did you correct it? I got custom orthotics. That particular problem could probably have been solved with just a thin heel lift, but I also had a collapsed arch.

I learned (once again) that our regulatory calibration procedure for gauges is way too complex and convoluted.

I learned that a good friend who is in their early 30s is now transitioning from public perception as a female to male. this cannot be an easy choice, and I wish him all the luck in the world. To be able to finally live as the gender you most identify with must surely be comforting, even with all of the other hassles involved.

That cat I used to despise & curse when I had to let him out in the middle of the night.... I learned that I really miss him now that he's gone.

I learned (once again) that our regulatory calibration procedure for gauges is way too complex and convoluted. You can always refer to the Roger Goodell approved NFL procedure of not using calibrated gauges.
