I learned that roofers don't need a lot of time to get organized. They were on the roof and ripping shingles off about 5 minutes after arriving!

I learned that a bad DVD disk can sure jamb up a computer. No way to eject. No way to keep the drive from trying to access the disk. And plays havoc with shutdown and virus protection. Solution (short of a sledge hammer): uninstall the driver for the DVD drive, grab the bad disk when it momentarily ejects, reinstall disk driver and walla. Never do that again. There's a small pinhole in the front the bezel that you can put a pin in and it will force release the drive when it is powered off.

I think I looked for that, but here 3 months later, I don't recall everything I tried. Anyhow, my computer doesn't have one of those pin holes. I just looked again this morning to double check. It's a Gateway DX4300 and a very good computer otherwise.

I keep thinking and I'm drawing a blank.
You know that saying that "some people just never learn"?
I guess I'm that guy.

I learned that I have a radically different concept of adulthood than some other people nearly my age. It scares me.
Nothing scares me.

I learned there's a "waybackmachine". I learned you can carry on decent Levon Helm backbeat with some bongos.

I learned that the plate and pins used to repair my dog's knee are in place and healing well. The 12-week recovery time is a bear, but we made it. He still has to be careful, but is well on the way back to "normal."

I learned about Hammerhead worms. An invasive from from Asia, it eats earthworms. I wonder if salt would be a good way to stop them?

I learned that it's easier to buy new window blinds than it is to clean the old ones.

Today I learned the proper way to anchor a treehouse into a tree trunk. Methinks there's a project on the horizon.

Today I learned how to pronounce Umatilla and Wallowa Congratulations. Now go for Heceta and Philomath. Might be more to the point if she goes for Sequim and Puyallap. Or Yakima and Washtucna.
