I wasn't sure I could do it; narrow it down to one. I have so many favorite great photos from last year: landscapes, fauna & flora, pet portraits (of mine and others'), candid shots, macros... So in lieu of picking the 'best' photo, I picked the one which provided me with the most excitement at the time and still takes me back there. Gros Morne, NewfoundlandAs I touched on in the TR, in the days spent around the national park leading up to the hike, the locals would question our judgement in opting to undertake the North Rim component of the traverse ("why do you want to do that?"). It was a hard and tedious hike to be sure, but we were constantly rewarded with views that wouldn't be matched by the majority of the Long Range component. The view in the photo is iconic and generally represents the park throughout much of its marketing material. Needless to say its one of hundreds of photos like it, likely taken by as many photographers. But upon gaining the ridge that offers the view, we officially put the North Rim behind us with only the relatively simple Long Range ahead. True enough that this is the view those doing only the Long Range get to start with (after climbing up from the pond below), but it felt and looked that much better with two solid days of hard hiking behind us.

^ How can anyone who likes the outdoors look at that view and not want to experience it themselves? Lovely...good choice!

As I touched on in the TR, in the days spent around the national park.... I guess I must have missed the trip report. Where did you post it and what national park?

It's over in the TR section. Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland, Canada. A word of warning, it is photo heavy and quite verbose.

I want to thank everyone for sharing photos; I've looked at them repeatedly, been captivated by the depth and breadth of the variety, range and beauty, but sometimes been unable to think how to express the evocative feelings they create, beyond a very simple "WOW"!
