Thanks, since there appears to not be the time limit for editing, I can add names still.

MaryPhyl and ChuckD are the two who I spent time with, considered good friends and miss the most. Both died doing what they loved. Mary was on the river in her beloved Grand Canyon. She lived close to the Canyon and spent thousands of days/weeks hiking or floating the river. Chuck was asleep in his hammock, while on a weekend camping trip, when a storm caused a tree to fall on him. He was teaching camping 101 as a volunteer at a state park. Always sharing what he loved.
I miss both of them!
Each one mentioned here left a hole in our community. I miss them all.

Some of you might not remember him, but we lost RichB a few years ago as well, to cancer. He was a quieter member of the Forums. I reflected back on RichB a couple weeks ago while going through old photos. He was quite a guy.

Mataharihiker was the second person I met from the forums, and the first I actually went hiking with! We hiked in Giant Forest and up Moro Rock and stayed in touch over the years. She was an amazing woman who had such a colorful past and gave such good advice. I miss her probably the most. www.tarol.com/washington_tree.jpgI met Chuck only once but that was enough to know he was one of the good guys. When my backpacking gear got stolen out of my truck he sent me a bunch of replacement gear. When I got married he sent my husband and I a car camping 2-burner stove. We exchanged Christmas cards and other correspondence over the years. Never met Bearmagnet but we talked often on the forums. Same with Olyhiker. Oly asked me once if he could "borrow" a couple of my photographs for a piece of art he was creating. I love the way it turned out He called it "Salmon Dance" The meaning as described by him: "The salmon runs in the Pacific Northwest are becoming less and less as time goes by. To convey this idea into a painting I took scenes (Tarol's pics) of the desert and surrounded the spawning salmon - (giver of life). I wanted to take the Salmon out of its natural habitat and place it in an environment which cannot sustain salmon. If you will a glimpse of things to come for the salmon. www.tarol.com/painting_salmon_dance.jpgJimmyC will be missed by many for his silliness - but there was a serious side to him as well and he looked after me a few times on the forums. RIP.

Mary Phyl from Flagstaff/Cameron, Arizona was a special person to me. We met a few times when Carol and I were in the Grand Canyon vicinity, even going to her house for dinner once. Looking up the road where they lived and going by the store they ran made me sad.

Ok, bp2go did you edit my post about Oly? No, I did not. I admit I added a photo of ChuckD that I found in the old forum, putting it into a post by zeke , but I have no idea how your post would have been changed. People can't edit other's work. I can, but I didn't. So I have no guesses.

Okay, officially strange! What is that picture, an album cover or something? Note this: you're viewing with an iPad; I only just added a message in the :How to: about viewing with a smartphone! It has a default view that puts photos into folders (?) to open. I haven't seen that so I don't quite know how that works. BUT the info says that at the bottom of the screen there is a button to tap do see "Desktop" view. I wonder? Is that new photo something of yours? May I remind you that your Photobucket account has a privacy switch that needs to be set. Your top post of the note might have been from tinyPic? The one with the switched image is still acting as a link to your library. You really want to fix that.

the twilight series which was set in Oly's home area Okay, that just adds creepy to the mystery. Some research next week, I can see that.

can you delete all these posts, please You can delete your own posts, click on the little gear in the upper right hand corner of the box you want to delete. You can also open the activity tab in your profile and delete posts from there also I think.

oldnolder, aka Bill Forester. Quoting JOHN/OHIO, Jun. 04 2014: Fellow outdoorsman & backpacker, 66 yr old Bill Forester of Mercer, Pa was killed in a head-on vehicle accident over the weekend. Eventhough I only met Bill once, he left a very positive and memorable impression on me and our bp group in Oct 2012 to Allegheny National Forest/North Country Trail.
RIP Bill. Keep the fire stoked.

I enjoyed hiking with Chuck in the Wichita Mountains forum hike. It was the only time I met him, but we had quite a bit in common.

I remember all these folks. Also OldnOlder. He was a constant cheering presence on the Good Morning thread. (Failed to notice the second page and that he'd been mentioned. I'll let this stand).

The only person that's past, that I actually got to meet, was Chuck D at Pickle Gulch. He remembered all of my posts about backcountry fishing /eating to save weight on a long, LONG trip and we got to talk cooking for a few hours. Phil aka Bearmagnet, Mata, Oly, oldnolder, and a few more that I only knew from our "cyber campfire" still were "friends".
I'm getting into those years, were my old hometown friends are starting to pass away regularly. Though it's sad to think about it, our list will only be increasing.
