Every year. Type-1 Diabetic, young kids at home, work on a crowded campus, travel a lot, I'm about as susceptible as anyone.
We do seem to have this discussion every year, don't we.

Unfortunately, with the flu shot you are only getting an immune boost against the strains that the WHO/CDC estimate will be the most prevalent in the flu season; two of the fast mutating type A's (one H1N1, one H3N2) and a two of the slower mutating type B’s for the quadrivalent. While you should also retain some immunity against the strains you encountered in your childhood, as you get older it doesn't hurt to get your body to mount a defense and kind of prime it to have antibodies on hand as you head into the flu season.

Got mine last week.
I work as a environmental/asbestos consultant. A significant amount of our work is for healthcare facilities, and they require proof of flu shot. So it's basically mandatory for my workplace.
Plus, we found out my wife's cancer is back, and she starts chemo tomorrow. So it's a no brainer.

I seldom visit my Dr, and haven't had a Dr for over 3 years. Certainly not for normal routine exams. I was one to visit the doc only when sick. I go for yearly checkups now, mainly to keeps tabs on telltale signs that lead to worse conditions that I might otherwise blow off. That, and the fact that getting a yearly checkup gets $$$ put into an account that offsets the yearly medical deductible.

I hope that the chemo does its job, with little side effects. I hate cancer.

Get one every year: working, even peripherally, in a medical system shows that to be a no brainer: prevention is always better than cure (or riding it out).
