gonehiking, what are the stunning purple flowers growing so prolifically in your first photo? And what are the plants on the angled trellises? I really enjoy seeing others' photos, especially the open field, sunny ones - I think the warmth in the photos is so cheerful. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Autumnist! Those purple flowers are Bluebells, a sort of wild hyacinth species. The white flowers in lines are pear trees in bloom. Here are couple of albums full off flowers: tulips and stuffand Hallerbos with bluebellsIf you happen to be interested.

GoneHiking, thanks for the info on the flowers. The bluebells resemble my own cultivated wood hyacinths but their flowers are more spread out and on taller stalks. That could be the forest environment though.
The pear trees are espaliered, grown commercially, I assume? I've seen various espalier methods but none for flowering fruit trees. That's a great idea though; it saves vertical and horizontal space and makes it easier for pollination - bees can just flit from one tree right over to the next since they're much closer than they would be if they were stand alone trees.
The photos are stunning, especially the ones of masses and masses of tulips. Question: toward the end of that link, there are photos of wind farms which appear to be in the water. I'm not that familiar with wind farms, but assumed that they were land based. In Holland, there are some that are water based? I assume that's fairly shallow water in that area? Fascinating!
Thanks for the info and the great links.
