A few random flowers from around Death Valley. Gravel Ghost, I think. About as close as it got to carpets; the best of the bloom on the valley floor was over. There was still a field of Desert Gold, just a bit spindly Everybody's chowing down in a rock nettle:

^ Love the first two shots (that Gravel Ghost in particular is very cool)! Not too big a fan of bugs. *ugh* One more from yesterday evening, similar to the previous photo but landscape orientation now: Hopefully, I can repeat the above photo(s) once the flowers bloom in the next couple of days.

Killdeer nest and then an agitated killdeer that was happy when the photoshoot was over. (winkfacehere) lol.

Well, I can take ladybirds, and even bees in flower photos, but not much else. I think I'm a wimp. (By the way, the flower in your bug photo is beautiful!)

Iceplant. It was a bad idea, but there's no denying the blooms are lovely

I'm always fascinated by the bugs in the flowers. How about a blue spiderwort loaded with nymphs? Compliments of the Fairfield State Park, Fairfield, Tx.

How about a blue spiderwort loaded with nymphs? I'm beginning to appreciate Galiwalker's perspective on bugs.

Love that lichen-draped moss, Travis. That's a cool color pattern.

Finally saw the first sign of spring in the Colorado Springs area. Took a nice hike today and saw lots of these Spring Beauties (aptly named). Steve, for you they are Claytonia lanceolata
