We might get some snow flurries late tonight in far eastern Oklahoma. I'm not holding my breath. Yes they teased snow for SE Pennsylvania: nothing.
We got our share in NW NJ, a bit less than forecast. We started the day with 1/4" of tiny sleet balls and finished with 1 1/2" of mixed types of snow.
I took my walk today in the driving sleet, imagining myself plying the Arctic waves on Fridtjof Nansen's Fram. Fortunately, I did not have pemmican for lunch.

No snow here, but all around, and the wind and blowing rain showers feels pretty wintery.

7 days 3 storms 1/22>28/21. Southern California rain only from 2 small earlier storms this period.
Notice how desert like Owens Valley east of the Southern Sierra even had snow.

We're going to get our first measurable snowfall in a couple of years. First, we'll get the remnants of the storm that's been migrating from the west. The day after it arrives another one will get here from the south. It's still unknown how the two will interact when they collide, but we should have a better idea tomorrow. In this area a movement of just 10 or 20 miles can have a huge effect on the type and amount of precipitation.

I'm hoping for a decent storm and snow. Being north and west of DC helps given that is where most storms release their fury as they come over the hills.

Jim's probably hoping for at least 12 inches of snow, and temps near zero. I usually get a mix of garbage, followed by (re)freezing garbage for a few days.

And while everyone is talking about snow, we had tornado warnings in far northeastern Oklahoma. I don't know if there were any touchdowns, but there were a couple of funnels who people posted pictures of.

Our forecast has been updated to 12-18" over 36 hours from Sunday evening through noon on Tuesday. I'm not looking forward to shoveling.

At 7,300 elev, we only got 4 ~ 5 feet of wet Sierra cement. About 5 minutes in, the snow blower's transmission started a'smoking and the auger stopped a'spinning...sigh! That wasn't so bad, digging out the Jeep or the 30 foot of driveway...it was the pond. Three streams converge (up a ways out the back door) into our small trout pond...then a 5 foot waterfall continues on down Hilton Creek. If our pond outlet ices over, the water backs up in the streams above, turning the street into black ice.
The ice was only a few inches thick.

Jim's probably hoping for at least 12 inches of snow, and temps near zero. Instead, he is reveling in a Sunday snow, but wondering if the trash guys will pick up on Monday. He thinks the combination of snow plows and trash trucks out together is a recipe for disaster. Monday morning snow removal is not a working person's idea of a good way to start the week.

I have over 2.5” in my rain gauge, and a chance of more rain in the next couple of days. That’s not much compared to all your snow, but it’s saving our necks, I think.

High Sierra Fan, BigLoad - How are you guys doing? So far we only have about an inch here in Syracuse. Our snow is forecast to really begin later tonight and last thru Tuesday evening, with some wrap-around lake effect after. All in all, about 12-18", and it's trending upward. Another foot for the local ski areas to the south (good news).
