I am guilty of posting far more weather threads than I should have. My hope is that perhaps we might consolidate such postings in a single thread. If most of you don't agree so be it and this will fade quickly. NOAA Seasonal Forecast maps predict a hot and wet summer for the Eastern United States. The west will most likely have some drier than normal regions and warmer than normal conditions should be widespread. www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/90day/It also appears that the SE United States can expect some potentially sever weather this Easter Weekend. Big Load is looking at a chance for some severe hail in the Garden State right now! Here in Jackson Hole we are having some delightful, warm [for us] days. Snow and rain are however expected to return in the coming days. I just finished cleaning the bathroom, I'm gonna shower and go out to the Elk Refuge. Wherever you are stay safe folks!

I like the idea of a weather thread, especially as it relates to planning trips locally or otherwise in this changed environment.

Ah yes a weather thread! We'll need inspirations of mountain weather.
Sunrise and sunset thunderstorms.
Including a bright sunny noon warm day at 11.2k where we waded into its sandy white bottom before submerging.

Meteorology is my 2nd favorite science after astronomy. I'm a member of Cocorahs where we send our daily precipitation amounts in. If you keep precipitation at your house, it is free and easy (except for buying an excellent rain gauge).

The forecast here in north Alabama calls for severe thunderstorms, large hail, damaging winds and possibly tornadoes. Should be an interesting day.

In Napa it will get up to 70 today, light clouds and a 10% chance of showers. Up in the Sierra it looks like our snowpack is only about 50% of normal. That means more drought...but it also means we can get up into the mountain earlier.
Well, if it weren't for certain other issues.

Well, if it weren't for certain other issues. Sounds like a good day for wine tasting, if it weren't for certain other issues.

On the CA central coast the weather doesn't vary much all year. We have a foggy season and a sunny season - today looks like it might be the first day of foggy season. It rains occasionally November - April, but not regularly enough to call it a rainy season.
