From a CNN article...
A new study suggests that, unlike vaccines for the flu that need a yearly booster, the two-dose Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine should keep an immune response up for years.
The human body produces immune system components called antibodies to attack and neutralize an invader such as a virus. But these die off over time. To make sure of a long-term response, the body needs to keep the capacity to make more antibodies that can specifically respond to certain viruses or bacteria as needed. It does this with B-cells.
Researchers at Washington University in St. Louis found people who got both doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine had little factories called germinal centers that make B-cells that should specifically recognize the coronavirus, meaning there's a possibility for long-lasting protection, according to a study published in the journal Nature.

Another reason to avoid COVID is the loss of smell … or as some who’ve recovered have found, everything smells like something unpleasant so like garlic, like cigarette smoke, … or like poo. Do tell, I hadn't heard... 8 mo's on I probably have 50% taste/smell back. It's getting better and I expect a full recovery. Through month 6 (when I probably only had around 15% taste/smell) everything tasted metallic... that's the best I can describe it. Really awful.

Strongest health reason to be vaccinated is now confirmed folks. Given the huge rapid increase in our vaccinated population data is now coming in and it is good.
healthfeedback.org/claimreview/unvaccinated-individuals-now-account-for-the-vast-majority-of-covid-19-hospitalizations-and-deaths-in-the-u-s-according-to-available-data/
An Associated Press analysis of data from the CDC arrived at a similar conclusion. In May 2021, fully vaccinated people accounted for fewer than 1,200 (1.1%) hospitalizations and 150 (0.8%) deaths of the more than 100,000 total hospitalizations and 18,000 COVID-19 deaths reported in the U.S. This means that a high proportion of COVID-19 deaths might be preventable by vaccination, as the tweet implied.
Although the tweet didn’t cite its source, Anthony Fauci, the director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, mentioned the same 99.2% figure during a 4 July 2021 interview hosted by Chuck Todd on the NBC program “Meet the Press”:
“Well, if you look at the number of deaths, about 99.2% of them are unvaccinated. About 0.8% are vaccinated. No vaccine is perfect. But when you talk about the avoidability of hospitalization and death, Chuck, it’s really sad and tragic that [al]most all of these are avoidable and preventable.”

I'm reading a Washington Post article on my phone that says the Eli Lilly monoclonal antibody treatment is not effective against the delta variant.

Last year I posted about needle phobia and at the current stage that has become a larger issue as new surges are occurring within the significant numbers of unvaccinated. More ominous is we are continuing to read studies showing the pool of unvaccinated is evolving more contagious and virulent forms of COVID-19 that could prolong the epidemic for years wreaking havoc on our society. So it is no longer just their problem but rather effects everyone. That is also a reason we wealthier nations need to get vaccines into the poorer nations quickly for the sake of our own futures.
Reports from those entering hospitals with more serious cases are showing most regret not being vaccinated. And most people won't admit to needle phobia as it is embarrassing considering how trivial without pain getting vaccinated is in this era. At this point after the public has been pummeled with get vaccinated media, one wonders what is going on in heads of those that still ignore such. With so many still dying and recent data convincingly showing almost all now catching the virus are unvaccinated, one might expect the needle phobic would act. However fear has a way of of making many people just stick their heads further in that hole in the ground, procrastinating, not facing reality. Although there are numbers that resisted for political and social media misinformation reasons given earlier uncertainties, any arguments supporting those arguments are gone that leaves a few unrepentant media extremists with agendas and the many needle phobic.
Half of unvaccinated adults have needle phobia: What's proven to help
medicalxpress.com/news/2021-06-unvaccinated-adults-needle-phobia-proven.html
...A 2018 study found that 27% of hospital employees dodged flu vaccines due to needle fear. And most recently, an April 2021 national survey of 600 not-yet-COVID-19-vaccinated U.S. adults found that 52% reported moderate to severe needle fear.

Also, there is the real concern that they'll have a reaction to the shot, and will be forced to miss work and either eat the cost or possibly be fired for doing so.

Due to a Delta variant fueled surge there, Mississippi’s public health dept just advised those aged 65+ to avoid indoor crowds, whether vaccinated or not (plus other recommended restrictions): Yet Mississippi has one of the lowest vaccination rates. :(

Two of my best friends, both fully vaccinated, were just diagnosed today with COVID. We all need to remain cautious.

Do you know which vaccine they got? I hope their cases are mild! One got Pfizer, not sure about the other. Luckily, both have mild symptoms, thanks to the vaccine. But they're having to isolate from their families. One of my friends has 2 daughters, both too young to get vaccinated, so needless to say we're all concerned for them.

FYI...
Based on reports from people infected with the coronavirus noted in the Zoe COVID symptom study, the five most common symptoms among fully vaccinated people with the virus are:
Headache Runny nose Sneezing Sore throat Loss of smell
While some of these symptoms present themselves in individuals regardless of vaccination level, the study showed that most of the previously dominant COVID signs — such as persistent cough — are more likely to appear in unvaccinated individuals or those who just received one shot.

news.google.com/stories/CAAqOQgKIjNDQklTSURvSmMzUnZjbmt0TXpZd1NoTUtFUWpwZ191bms0QU1FVkJqR3p6XzFVVEJLQUFQAQ?hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US%3Aen This last week there has been a growing media controversy over everyone returning to wearing masks. Some of the pro mask advocates would even have vaccinated people do so outdoors anywhere there are others as we had to do for months. So why? Well such articles never relate why fully in a balanced way but such is obviously because they realize as long as most vaccinated people don't wear masks that given the monkey see monkey do habits of vast numbers of ordinary people, many of the unvaccinated people will also choose to not wear a mask despite considerable media advice that any unvaccinated people should continue to wear masks. Of course that is just what happened. Given Fourth of July crowds where those that had personally chosen to not be unvaccinated mixed with the majority of we vaccinated, it is no surprise there has been a surge.
The opinion of most of we vaccinated is NO, it is not that we safely vaccinated ought turn back to annoyingly wear masks again except in a few indoor situations for the sake of those inconsiderate and irresponsible given needle phobia, procrastination, reading manipulative anti-vaxxer nonsense, political issues, and whatever and do their part. Newsom, my local SFBA counties, and the CDC authorities understand that there is no going back for those that understand the media game being played. Almost all new cases are unvaccinated. Here in California it is by far mainly among the same young adult and youth age groups and ethnic communities as it was all last year. Also against returning to previous mask mandates, small businesses, especially the many restaurants are utterly being destroyed and authorities know it.

I honestly don't understand the fuss over masking. Sure, it can be hot in the 90 degree weather if you're outside, but it's also a good reminder to be more careful in that intense heat, and slow down activity. A few weeks ago the majority in the grocery store weren't masked or weren't distancing. A few days ago that had changed and there were more people who were masked than unmasked. I noticed the majority of unmasked people were those in their 20's and 30's. I have no plans to discontinue masking; why take the chance? I made it this far in life; I'm not going to jeopardize my retirement and old age by gambling with a potential COVID attack.
And BTW, I got a free Target $50 VISA card just for getting the vaccination. And I got mine at the southern office of the county health department. There were only 4 other people there, plus 2 nurses, and plenty of space for distancing. Plus it was air conditioned. I like that. It was much better than a long car line.
