While the world is scary, I'll say this: I went to Mexico in March. We were there for quite some time. We stayed at one area for awhile, then took a boat with 60 or so people plus the crew for 7 days in the Sea of Cortez. We had to take a test to come back to the US the night before.
No one got Covid on the entire boat part. A cruise can happen. But pick carefully - take a boutique one with a small group. We sailed with the same company we used in summer of 2021 to Alaska. (It was also Covid free). And there were NO cases even a week after the trip.
Neither trip we masked. It was not required. However, we were required to have a booster for this recent trip and be done 2 weeks before the trip.
In Mexico where we were the local population wasn't overly concerned with Covid to be honest. They had more important things to deal with...such as simply surviving and making a living. They don't have the luxury of not working. And that is a painful truth for much of the world.
