However, in reflection I AM being unnecessarily harsh. I'll leave my comments as written because I think it's chickenchit to erase them, but I do apologize to Reuben and the board. Thanks. Would that we all do the same in similar circumstances - it's not easy. The conversation is about "Coronavirus - Covid-19: how has it changed your life so far?". Neither countries nor continents were specified. As far as how it's affected me - I have friends and family in the U.S. as well as overseas. Of those people, one U.S. citizen has died, and one overseas citizen has died as well. There are more ways that it's "changed my life so far", but those are the most serious. It's affected all of us in various ways and to various degrees. Thankfully, you survived your infection, and your sense of taste is retunrning, even if it's "altered". Again, thanks.

I live in Ann Arbor (Michigan) which has good vaccination rates -- for those 16+ years old, over 70% fully vaccinated and most of the city in the 90-100% range for at least one dose. That said, my hospital admin friend told me last night that the two local hospitals are back to the early pandemic capacities, one is at 100% ICU capacity and both are about to stop elective surgeries/procedures again. From the news it sounds like your Governor called in the Feds to lend assistance. My County here in Colorado did the same a few weeks ago when our ICU beds were at 110% capacity. I will be getting with my medical oncologist on my next visit to discuss my booster. I got my first 2 doses in May/June but never had any tests done to see if my immune system was back to functioning enough to build any antibodies.

Got my Moderna booster but the clinic was a stickler for waiting 6 months. Most of my activities are outdoors so not too concerned. Actually been to a movie in a more lax state, didn’t feel too unsafe but during the starting credits, I realized I didn’t trust my fellow theater patrons and wore the mask. If just sitting watching a screen, a well-designed one is not obstructive at all.

Got my Moderna booster but the clinic was a stickler for waiting 6 months. I got mine a few days short of seven months, and it was the soonest I could get an appointment. At least it wasn't the 2+ years it took to get a RealID appointment at the DMV.

Also got my flu, tetanus, and shingles vaccinations in the same week. Guess it could be called a vax job. Haha.. I’ll see myself out ..

Also got my flu, tetanus, and shingles vaccinations in the same week. I got my flu shot the week before, but I still have shingles and tetanus to go. My mom is in her second shingles outbreak, so I feel like I'm on borrowed time.

Went to the gym today, and expressed surprise that no one was masking. I was told that it’s “a personal choice.” I pointed out that we had a new state mask mandate, but didn’t stick around to argue. I’m only sorry that at this time of year I do have to change out of my wet swimsuit before riding home, unlike in summer when I could avoid the locker room altogether. I may have to give up swimming and cancel my membership, because I am truly disgusted with this indifference to health and safety, not to mention the law.

Very interesting. I wonder if the lower effectiveness of vaccines has to do with the rate of infection... that, early on, the body's defenses can't outpace the rate of infection. Researchers from the University of Hong Kong’s LKS Faculty of Medicine found that after 24 hours of infection, the omicron variant multiplied in the human bronchus 70 times faster than the delta variant and original coronavirus strain.
They also discovered that omicron infection in the lungs was “significantly lower” than the initial COVID-19 strain, “which may be an indicator of lower disease severity,” according to a statement from the university.thehill.com/policy/healthcare/586074-omicon-infects-70-times-faster-than-previous-covid-strains-study

I got the moderna booster Saturday before thanksgiving. It had been 7 months since my second shot. That was as early as I could get it here in SC. Got flu shot same time. Hereproblem is in South Carolina there are still a die hard group of people who will never get vaccine. I was told last week the vaccine is killing people everywhere it’s just not getting reports in main stream media. For the life of me I can’t get them to believe otherwise. We are around 60 % fully vaccinated and I really don’t tree it getting any better here.

After looking again we are only 53 fully vaccinated. My county is a whopping 43%.

One of my colleagues from another work location became the first person I know to get it for the second time. He had delta the first time, and it hit him hard, although not hard enough to be hospitalized. Now he has omicron. So far it's not as bad but it's bad enough. I hope this remains uncommon, but I fear it won't.

Syracuse Basketball: 14 of 20 players/managers have COVID. All vaccinated/boosted. 10 players had it last year (can't conclude how many are cross-overs between the years). Last year, positive players were sick (no asymptomatic). This year, worst case had cold symptoms for 1-2 days. Most asymptomatic.

Shopping malls packed yesterday with shoppers (almost 100% masked). The big problem was traffic… barely made it out alive as the Santa spirit apparently involves burning rubber in the parking lot (“got mine, suckas”).

Wednesday morning I tested positive with an at home rapid test but yesterday's PCR test at Cambridge [MA] Health came back negative! Thought I was going to have to postpone flight home the 29th.
We have a lot of great folks here. I wish each and every one of you the happiest of Holidays and New Years to come. Keep your sticks on the ice and may we all be able to loosen up a lot more in the coming weeks and months. Slainte!
