Beautiful pictures. The reflection, in particular, struck a chord with me when I first saw it. Good memories and associations. I remember when the Portal fire kicked off. Hard to believe it was the tip of an iceberg of a fire season.

Impressive smoke plume. I love the light on the trees in the header picture. When I was first squinting at it on my small screen, I thought it was the tufa towers at Mono Lake, in the very early morning Nice to get the big picture, as it were, and straighten my head.

Wanda Lake, looking towards Muir Pass. I've done this hike twice, with great friends. It was colder at Wanda lake when I did it the first time. The second time, it was colder at the Pass. Either way, I'd return to that trip in a heart beat. Maybe if I was 30 years younger, I could do it easier and be faster going up Lamarck Col. Nonetheless, this particular loop is near Bishop, Ca. North Lake to South Lake, via Evolution & Dusy Basins. 3 fairly long uphill runs on this loop, for me anyway, and the downhills didn't seem equal, even if they were. BlueBear was along on trip #1, and rebeccad went along with Zack and I on trip #2.

Wanda Lake, looking towards Muir Pass. Great spot on a great trip. I would like to do that one again, or parts of it as part of a longer route I am thinking about for next summer.

2007-08-22 first day of the successful 4 Wheel Bob White Mountain summit expedition. If you click on the photo, you can see that this is an old scan of a photo print (a bit grainy) that has been posterized
Remember that the movie 4 Wheel Bob is available on DVD and, now, on vimeo on demand

Original art sold, thus this is all have left. Thanks for picking my art! Watercolor with various ink pens. About 8 miles east of Mammoth Lakes lies Convict lake, a real jewel and a good warm-up hike too as there is a 3 mile trail around. Early May, only the last ribbon of snow remained...shoreline Willows and Alders still milky white. After the hike, sat at the docks, and quickly tried to capture the way the pines on the far side caught the afternoon light. mark

markskor, I was going to ask if you sold your paintings. I could definitely hang one of those on my wall

In Tuolumne, last season they let me put up a few watercolor/ pen-n-ink/ paintings, just to decorate the walls inside the grill. Additionally, one "picture of the day", (the ones you see here)... each morning I put one up outside on the store's community bulletin board. All are for sale up there. Just getting ready. thanks again... mark

Another good reason for us to stop at the store when we next pass through—which might be early June if they are open that early, otherwise whenever we head back up to the Sierra for more hiking!

That’s going to get tight.

Hocking Hills, Ohio
This photo of the Upper Falls, in Hocking Hills' Old Man's Cave complex, was taken last September, when the leaves were just beginning to turn. Hocking Hills is one of my favorite spots in Ohio, and the entire Old Man's Cave complex is full of amazing structures. The Upper Falls, located at the very top of the gorge, starts off the proceedings. The stunning glen is a huge draw; to experience the peace and serenity of the place I got here right around daybreak. I was able to spend a good half hour by myself, in lonely splendor.
