Here's a little illustration (acrylic on paper) I did many years ago of Cereus hildmannianus "Queen Of The Night"... a night blooming cactus flower:

Galiwalker, where are those places in your pics? General info is fine. Edited to ask where IS that place - seeing it's one place in two different seasons.

Galiwalker, where are those places in your pics? Do you mean the last two photos? Those were taken in western Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands, along the Laurel Highlands Trail, about 2.3mi from Ohiopyle. FYI, if you click on any of my photos you will be directed to my Flickr hosting site, which will note the destination in the photo description. This one was taken in New Jersey's Edwin B. Forsythe National Refuge:

Bird butts? Now we're saying bird butts are art?

Ok, since zeke isn't into artsy bird butts, here's a photo (unfortunately not outdoors related, so not really applicable in this thread) which he might think is art: This is a real photo of oil bubbles floating on water in a bowl. The colors are from two sheets of paper I had placed below the bowl.

Well, if we're going abstract... But this isn't abstract. It's real. Scale, location, height/angle... you decide.

The below is a downsized crop from an image taken last month at North Table Mountain Ecological Reserve north of Oroville, a California Department of Fish and Game reserve, on the afternoon of April 9. It is from the same image as displayed at the top of this web page: www.davidsenesac.com/2018_Trip_Chronicles/spring_2018-2.htmlThe actual image is far larger at 8500 by 5800 pixels, a 3 frame 3 column by 2 row 19 focus stack stitch blended composite. An enlarged vertical slice view showing fine detail: www.davidsenesac.com/2018_Trip_Chronicles/RR07551-07569-3x1vbq.jpgThe reserve arguably has our best Northern California displays of wildflowers most springs, however the peak color only lasts a week or two. Also this obscure location within the several square miles reserve is only found by a minor numbers of visitors because it requires a couple miles hiking.

Dave, somehow when I stopped briefly at mile 50-odd of the Wildflower Century, I was disinclined to walk out into the reserve! But it’s clear that we need to get there one of these years at the peak time and on foot, so we can really check it out.

Unlike the spectacular blooms in our dry Southern California areas, a unique aspect of N Table Mtn is it can be so lush with water all about with streams flowing. During my occasional visits during good years over the decades, the peak has consistently occurred around the beginning of April. I can point you two or others on the board where to specifically hike into.
