And come on, folks--share your photos/art, and let's get some votes in here, too! It occurs to me that we maybe need a timeline for this. At a guess, I'm thinking we might need a couple of weeks to get a good selection of photos, and then some more time to vote? (Voting, you will recall, is by "like" button, so don't just "like" everything!)

Here's one. I think it's the only print I have that works in this format deleted account

Au Contraire, BigLoad. I think a picture of that pine cone you did many years ago would fit in this framework if taken on the side.

we might need a couple of weeks Actually, I think things are off to a good start. We can swap out images maybe every two weeks instead of quarterly. What seems to be forgotten is adding some info about the images submitted! Where is it? Unless it's completely iconic (HalfDome, Mt. Rainier,...) we need a location. And maybe Rainier isn't identifiable unless you know your PNW volcanoes. So photo or painting, add some detail. I rather think that once a picture is bannerized, that choice could be pinned at the top of the entries to see a bigger image and read a block of info: location, medium, date?, and even some artist comment! The fact that this is a work in progress lets me mention this: it's nice that people go to the effort of cropping to add a submission, BUT it was discussed and decided that maybe the cropping would be done on this end! That would let the submitted picture be available for a full-six view by clicking on it. But so far, so good. PS: I do think it could be okay to Like more than one image. The winner with most like will be posted in the banner, and when it's time to replace, the image will be removed from the entry list. All remaining images will continue to be available for Likes, and then the next Top Dog will be found. And BTW, if you Like something and then change your mind, OPTION+click to remove your vote from the count.

The print I posted is a miniature (about 2/3 of an image in business card size). It's based on pictographs on a roof that overhangs a ledge in Grand Gulch, very close to the well-known Quail Panel.

markskor, you have a unique way of using shading; it creates a specific quality, but I can't put a name to it. It's kind of a majestic stillness. I like it!

Au Contraire, BigLoad . I think a picture of that pine cone you did many years ago would fit in this framework if taken on the side. I'm not sure if this is the one you mean, but it's my best pine cone, tilted a bit. There's a much older one that's really primitive. If I recall this cone is from a Ponderosa somewhere in AZ.
