I still have the basic black header? But there isn't anything done differently! The previous Backpacker's Forums header was a graphic, and now the wording is actual text. The photo replaces the name graphic. In fact this is "stock" solution, the old way was a bit custom. What happens if you sign out and view the forum as a Guest? Any change? - - - UPDATE! Okay, funny story! Recent new idea was to set up some different options (themes) with new background art. The Standard theme is called Autumn, and I actually thought setting up the MAIN Header affected all, but it doesn't. So if you change the theme to Autumn, you see the new look. Other themes still look like the yellow header in a black rectangle. Look to the bottom-right of the browser window to see a little arrowhead. Tap that to pop out the small menu, tap the capped "T" to open your profile for the menu to select a theme. Then in that window, bottom left see a button to Save the Changes. Return to the forums and see the change.

If I view the forum as a guest the header becomes the lonely bright hiker by the lake.
On a side note, I'm glad Chrome remembered my password, because I wouldn't have.

What do you mean we have an answer to a quirk so quickly? It took years before, and with paid professional teams looking into it.
Have I mentioned how much I like you, Steve?

If I view the forum as a guest… Yes, the default theme is "BP Autumn", so Guests see that, and everyone who did NOT select a different theme in the recent decision to offer some new backgrounds. I'm still learning about this software; I thought the Header and Banner were global for all themes, and now see they are not.

I feel like a Beta tester. I feel your pain. Does this give you insight as to why my avatar is a crash-test dummy?

Hey, he's not lonely! I was there taking the picture
And for full disclosure, he's actually not too bright since he agreed to do a 5-day backpacking trip with me.

Wait, do you want it 1,000 by 200 px, or 10,000 by 200 px? Different posts say different things. I just shot you an e-mail with a 1000x200 picture, but if it needs to be 10,000 that makes it awfully skinny.

Bit of overkill there. 10,000 would have required several monitors: not very practical. And I did just get your shot of te glacier. Thanks.

So I just went through and tried all the themes and saw the picture change each time. They all look good, but I'm sticking with the mossy/granite for now. The needles is one of my landscapes of the heart.

Honestly, I'd rather see the header size reduced a little to something like 950 x 200 pixels. I kind of like a little margin along the edges. No big deal. Just my preference. Otherwise, the photos provide a nice touch.

something like 950 x 200 pixels. The irony is, the forum width was wider than the current 1000px. It had been set to be 85% of thr available viewport width. I have spent years defining sizes in EM units, and when I wasn't finding a way to install graphics that would resize, ProBoards advised a fixed 1000px. Skeptical, I followed the advice and found the forum displayed fine from my iPhone iPad, and now on my new 27" Retina display! If anyone is using an old 640 monitor, that's a problem.
