Just the way that our trip planning has worked out, both last year, and this year, our planned trips seemed to fall outside of the peak colour change. Just a few highlights were starting to pop on our last trip. IMG_1173 by Ryan Jakob, on Flickr

Looks OK to me. Everything from the tree trunk forward is in good focus, AFAIK. Closer examination shows that it's loading a low-res version. Higher res and clearer can be seen by clicking on the image. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if that's true of all the photos.

rebeccad Yep, clicking on the pic, then on the Load Full Res button really makes it clearer. Wonder how we fix that difference?

When was the photo taken? Last Thursday. Nice. Figured it was recent. Baxter usually peaks right around now. There's no Fall on the planet like a New England Fall...

We wanted to go back up this week (and climb Katahdin), but the weather has been uncooperative. I’m not that keen on hiking and camping in wet forests at low temps. So we are enjoying the colors closer to “home” in Augusta (ME).

Nice, your husband is from Augusta, yes? The farthest "South" we made it this August was Rockland. I've been missing Maine since we left.
How much longer are you staying?

Nice, your husband is from Augusta, yes? No, he's from CA. We are visiting friends. My husband does have roots in this area though, as it turns out--at least one branch of his family about 2 generations up. His dad is from the Boston area. How much longer are you staying? Until mid-December.

2018-10-17 first phone photo yesterday
I mentioned last week, about a couple who were looking for North Lake in the wrong location. Well, this week, folks stopped us while we walking near home and asked where Round Valley was as they saw it on a Fall Colors website. I said that we were in Round Valley. I looked it up and the Round Valley they were searching for was in Shasta County! (By the way, fall colors ARE starting to go off in my Round Valley.)

hikerchick395 Gotta love the lost tourists who didn't even check to see if they were in the right part of the state! And love the aspens and mountains. echo that picture of the apples on the ground and the flowers above them is a bit surreal!
