This summer has been abnormally cloudy with few breaks for astrophotography. I finally had a good 4 day stretch to image an extremely faint target I'd been wanting to get to for quite awhile, SH2-114, The Flying Dragon. This is nearly 24 hours of total exposure.

Since I got to Glacier National Park in the early hours of the morning when it was dark, and began hiking the Highline Trail when it was barely bright enough to see without a headlamp, this was one of my first views in the park: Going-to-the-Sun Road

Just like last year, I've finally started to get multiple strings of perfectly clear nights for my astrophotography. Here are two from the past couple of weeks, "The Lobsterclaw" and "The Lion" nebulas, both presented in the HOO color palette

GaliWalker I love the layers of color in that one. swimswithtrout I’m always amazed at your photos and love how easy it usually is to see why they have the names they do. Astronomy must be filled with people who play with the part of the brain responsible for pareidolia. Two of my husband’s recent photos from a local beach walk

I did a nice fall-color hike today. Here are a couple of shots. More will be on my blog in the morning. Bear in mind that fall color in WA isn't quite the same as it is back east!

I was a few days late finding the peak of autumn colors, but I did find this rare sighting for the area I was in.
