The county I live in, and the next door county are Del Norte in CA and Curry in Oregon. Our county is just under 30,000 people but within a week the hospital went from no covid cases to 16. Yesterday while our county Fair opened and looked very crowded, I took the girls swimming first for two hours at a nearly empty pool, then to an equally sparse beach. Life is beautiful but fragile.

^ That’s a pretty cool shot of the cables! Most, if not all the photos I seen, including mine, are from the ridge or the small hill just before the final climb. This one from further back, gives a much better impression of the climb.

The smoke finally cleared enough for a couple of days that I was able to pull my gear out. This is the western edge of the Veil Nebula, the remnants of a supernova explosion. It is also referred to as "The Witches Broom" or "The Finger of God". 5 hours total exposure, 805mm, ISO 400

One more, and possibly last, photo from my Karakoram trip. The next set will be in a trip report. Cathedral

One more, and possibly last, photo from my Karakoram trip. Nice pic but as far as the rocks go that almost looks like my trip to Isle Royale... well not really but it felt like it. Looking forward to the trip report.

One difference: the above photo was taken around 13,000ft. And the rocks all move, since they’re covering the surface of a glacier in a thin layer. All shall be revealed in a few days.

Working through 2500 photos from a month in the Sierra... and this one's from across the Owen's Valley, where we visited my beloved bristlecone pines.

Bristlecone pine trunk wood. Up close, works of natural art. Note the ancient Pre-Cambrian shale captured in a wood crease. 100% crop from below 4000x6000 pixel image 6 shot focus stack blend.
