My morning was made brighter by a conversation with a fellow quilter and needlework aficianado, whom I "cyber" met years ago when we both were addressing cancer in our families. We've never met, but kept in touch over the last 18 or so years. She's been more active in continuing her love of quilting, has segued into donating crocheted afghans to a cancer society, and inspired me to get out my needles and hooks and start knitting and crocheting again.
I have an extensive supply of yarn, which hopefully is still viable, and with the intensity of winter I expect to have plenty of confinement time indoors to start digging out my patterns and experimenting as I used to enjoy doing (especially when I was teaching). Some good neighbors have insisted on taking over the snow shoveling activities, so I can't even really plan to do that, even though I enjoy the fresh air of winter. I'm scolded whenever I go outside with a shovel in my hand!
I haven't yet identified a society to which I'll donate the afghans and throws, and it might even be the facility where my father spent his last days, but I'll make it a research project so I feel as if I'm working again. I'm also thinking of donating to veterans' retirement facilities; I'm sure they could benefit from the warmth of afghans or quilts. There's already an Honors Quilt group in my area.
It's amazing how much motivation and uplift can be inspired by a good conversation with a longtime friend. The issues of COVID and the grating friction of national politics have been pushed to the bottom of my worry list.

is there a miniature horse farm in your area, or are these your horses? Not my horses, although I would love it if they were! For the last couple of years, I've been working for a pet-sitting company, and the 2 minis belong to a client. So while the people were out of town, I went over twice a day to feed the horses, top off their water, fill the birdbaths, bring in the mail, etc. It's a fun job, most of the time, although I've been bit by dogs, and wiped out while walking them. I have another client who has 3 donkeys, and I really enjoy them. They get pretty pushy when they want their cookies, though! Most of the time, I'm just taking care of dogs and cats, and walking dogs while owners are at work. I'm much more excited about that part now that it's cooling down. Walking in the summer heat is brutal. (although any daytime walks are very short!)

autumnmist, I’m not sure if you have a newborn ICU near you, but the one my son was in is always looking for baby hats too, because they lose so much body heat through their heads. If you need knitting projects. Good Morning We got the week off and rolling a bit this morning. Although my husband was home fifteen minutes after he left because he was met at the gate with the news that he was possibly exposed to C-19 The homeschool schedule has 8:30 to 12:30 on zoom on M and W so it’s easy for me but a bit boring, to just stay nearby but quiet. I’m making plans to have my brother Lance come spend a month with us in the spring while our other Brother is building houses in Wyoming. That’s exciting and fun to look forward to. He’s got huge expectations but a lot are things that are closed now that may not be open by then.

echo, thanks for that suggestion. With all the hospitals in the SE Michigan area, I'm sure there are at least a few newborn ICUs. I can contact them for information, especially on the kinds of yarn that are appropriate. Worsted might not be a soft as a blend.

You’re welcome.
My husband got called back in to work around noon yesterday. It’s odd because everyone else in his office is out, but he was back in a corner more than 6 feet from the person who tested positive who stepped in to talk for about fifteen minutes. So here is hoping they are right and he was safe.
Anyhow, good morning. I’m sitting by my fire but the sun is starting to burn off the fog so it looks like the day will be clear and warm.

I’m listening to her teacher, reading City Mouse, Country Mouse over zoom. Trying to stay close enough to be aware what’s happening, and still get some chores done. But not loud chores to interrupt the zoom session. It’s such a strange type of school, but fun. I’ve been taking her out each afternoon to give us both fresh air and movement.

Good Morning. Saturday was my brother, Lance’s birthday. He was amazingly into talking on the phone, so he informed each of us, one at a time that we could sing him happy birthday if “you want to.” At 12:15 AM and 9:00 Am and 11:30 PM.

echo, such a thing as too much birthday cheer! Glad he is doing well, though. I'm in Torrey, UT, this morning, heading into Capital Reef for a quick visit later today, as it warms up. Travels are going well, and I'm both happy and not to be heading home soon.

Oy. Last night we camped near Great Basin National Park. It was clear, calm, beautiful, and 17 degrees when we got up.

Good morning on this fine 1st of Nov. Tomorrow, I get to go set up the precinct I will work in, and then Tuesday I show up at 5:30 am and won't leave until somewhere close to 9 PM. I am really looking forward to this, as I watch our state help decide this election.

Good morning, y’all. Hope everyone is still hanging in there, while we wait for the final vote counts.
On the bright side, there is rain/snow in the forecast for CA.
And I sent the latest draft of my new novel to beta readers, friends and fellow writers who will offer editorial feedback. That leaves me free to... write other stuff :D Gotta give those voices in my head someplace to go.
