Good morning. My place is foggy, I think it’s actual fog instead of smoke. And it was cold this morning, it felt good. The school district is starting phase three today So a lot of kids are going in person two days a week but we are keeping Daisy on distance learning full time and her group drops from the whole class, online from 8:39 to 10:30 each day, to five kids online from 8:30 to 12:30 each day.

One of the things I miss most, since living in Texas, is the Fall colors. We are finally having cooler mornings(60s) and warm days (low 80s), which has been wonderful. I try not to remember that these temps are cooler than normal. How is the distance learning going, echo ? I'd like to hear your pros and cons, if you'd like to share them.

I’m loving the fall colors in Maine, even if they aren’t as spectacular as some years. It’s still bright and colorful, and the temps in the 60s are heaven.

Hmmm mk. Today isn’t the best day to ask. Monday we switched it up district wide. Parents could choose remote learning still or going back two days a week, with three days remote. The town north of us made it 8 days before having to close down again, and I wasn’t wanting my granddaughter to be the experimental guinea pig so we chose to stay remote, but only five kids stayed in her zoom, and 18 went back to school. She isn’t thrilled with my choice. But now can’t change until after January, not that I would. And the tech department had a couple cases of porn on school zoom meetings so they changed up the log in and we couldn’t get in today. The whole district log ins were changed even though the issues were all jr and Sr high school. After trying to log in for an hour, and calling the school and the district office, she decided “I want to celebrate no zoom for 4 hours with a bowl of whipped cream.” When I told her the whipped cream was gone she announced, “I'm going to pinch grandpa!”

Good morning,
I’m not sure if I mentioned that my grandson, 4 and non verbal autistic, did zoom meetings for school for three weeks, and then Sp. Ed. Started back in person. He really needs the other kids as much or more than he needs the teacher and getting back has made him calmer and happier. But the county has mostly had really low positive test rates. Even with a huge prison here, none of the inmates have been positive, And then from two or three a week, the last three days have had, 5, 3, and 6 and a couple are quarantined in homes with kids who went back to school. Every parent, of every kid in the back to school group has to sent in a screening questionnaire every morning. Like some parents won’t mask fevers with Tylenol and send them anyway.

Thanks, echo. I don't have children in school anymore (no grandchildren either, for that matter), and I have the sense that it's all teetering on a very fine edge. A junior high principal told me the other day that their district is doing really well, but two other districts in the area have exploding numbers of cases and are struggling with quarantining and control. The whole thing is so complicated, and the burden for teachers and parents is crazy. And then you throw in the whole technology thing. There just are no easy answers. One of the women I walk dogs for is a high school special ed teacher. After the first week back, I asked her how it was going. Her response: "it's a cluster." She's been home this week and last because her aide tested positive and the whole class was sent home. The disruptions can't be easy for students, either. Anyway - thank you for sharing your experiences and your granddaughter stories - she's a hoot! (pinch Grandpa lol) Hang in there -- she's so lucky to have you.

Tonight seven more, and 2 are students, one at the middle school and one at a K-8 school. So each of their classrooms, everyone in it is back to quarantine and the county active cases are at 21. It we have 27 for three days in a row, we are at the state mandate for everything to shut down again, not just schools.

Good morning, snappypepper, zeke, rebeccad, autumnmist, mk, walkswithblackflies, toejam, gabby and anyone else who happens this way. I’m smiling. The weather is cool and foggy but not smoky, and the rain the last two nights was light and refreshing. The coffee is good, and school has eased into a bit more routine so the kids have a few less emotional meltdowns. People are still pretty stupid, but I still love being one. Life is interesting Have a good one!

Love the photo, echo! I hope the day continued on being as good as it started. I have to agree with you -- people are stupid, but I also love being one. It was 48* this morning when I walked a dog. I had a flannel shirt over my t-shirt and I was chilly. It was marvelous.

I'm spending time with my wife, daughter, and two granddaughters today. So it can't be too bad.

Happy Sunday morning! Yesterday started out at 52 degrees, and I enjoyed our hike like I haven't in a long time. The heat and humidity really wear me down. It was breezy and sunny, and really nice - so I thought, anyway. When I met up with a co-worker later in the day, her comment was "y'all, it was winter this morning. I had to wear a hat and a scarf and gloves!" I had to laugh because our perspectives were so opposite. Today it was 72 degrees and as I was feeding miniature horses, I was thinking about cooler temps.
Set up some tents yesterday to check them out for my husband's upcoming GC trip. I just wanted to crawl inside and have a night outside, but I resisted and rolled them up neatly. I'm thinking we may have to spend a weekend at a state park in December or January, just to get a couple of tent nights.
Hope you all have a great day!

mk, is there a miniature horse farm in your area, or are these your horses?
