I rode my bike to work today because the afternoon high is forecast to be 55-60F. It never entered my mind that the morning low was 30F. Brrrrr.

Last night I dreamt that I had coronavirus. Then I woke up and realized I had all the blankets on.

Like most people, I have mixed opinions based on not trusting the information I’m seeing, but at the moment our schools are open, still holding classes but not assemblies or field trips and parent conferences will be by phone instead of face to face. I’m nervous but also have things like the leprechaun hunt on Tuesday, Spring Pictures on Wednesday, the incubator with three dozen eggs due to hatch on the 25th. So the weekend, it feels uncertain, my husbands classes at the prison are on,but his night school classes at the same place are cancelled, the schools across the border in Oregon have all closed and the nearest is 13 miles from one of ours. Anyway, the granddaughter and I are lopping briars every day and getting me walking around the property and trying to improve my balance and reach. We uncovered some old toys and a big rope swing from her dads childhood. A collapsed deck didn’t stop her from climbing the chainsawed steps to the top of the redwood stump. The dreft of twenty years had to be shoveled away to find them. So if school is cancelled I foresee a lot of outdoor, at home time.

Good. I've had a couple of times where it feels like it "slipped", but never went into full spasm and no effects after a couple minutes. I haven't done burpees or anything that would acutely stress my spine (jumping, etc.), but I'm trail running and doing yardwork without any issues. Thanks for asking.

I skipped a gym day, on Thursday. First skipped day since Oct. I feel that the skip day did my body good. Back to the gym this AM. I'm continuing to exercise, but also mindful not to over-do anything. No need to compromise my immune system by overtraining. To that end, I'm being sure to add "active rest" days to the week.

Well, it changed soon after I posted here, and our school board declared a school closure at least through our very late spring break, so the earliest we will return is April 20. Today was day one. I managed to get the girl to do a nature walk, sticking her flowers and moss and seeds down with double stick tape. We also did some reading and writing and crafting and I’m so grateful because I taught her age level so many years it’s easy for me to know what I’m doing here. Also beyond grateful for extra grandchild time, and for a family that is stable enough that it won’t be a hardship. It’s not true for so many of our students and one worry was eased by discovering the school buses will deliver breakfast and lunch for all kids, 0 to 18 during the school closure.

Starting to get in the groove of working from home while homeschooling the kids. In order to get outside, we've been taking field trips to different trail systems. Tuesday was an abandoned quarry, yesterday was an art park with an extension of the North Country Trail running through it. Between supporting the kids' homework, the field trips, and prepping for quarantine... it's been hard to log 8 hours of work in a day. Hopefully that will get easier with every passing day.
I have my "office" set up in front of one of our picture windows. Two turkeys just walked 10 feet away.

Well, I haven’t posted in four mornings. It’s been an interesting time, but four very long, boring to tell about days. The girl and I have been blessed with fifty degree warmth and windless days. We have a two acre yard and empty beaches and I know how to teach her age level easily, but still, we get cabin fever and missing the schools full of kids we are used to. The state is on shelter in place, but every school day at ten thirty we meet her bus for a delivery of lunch, the next days breakfast and work packets.
My husband’s teaching at the prison was on until today, now he is not meeting with students but is an essential employee who can be reassigned to things like meals or laundry at the prison if they become short handed. Otherwise he’s at home working online. But inmates don’t get internet so not teaching.
I hope everyone survives this and there is no new virus following on its heels. Be safe and laugh today.

Every cough or sniffle or weird pain has me asking myself is this it? Same here @idahowalker . Strange times. This morning, thirty minutes from now, I'll attend an online yoga class. Online yoga classes are not new to me - studying with other teachers around the country is one way to keep up my teaching chops. But this one is special. It will originate from my own little studio here in north Idaho. From my favorite teacher. Should be interesting. She's always been a bit of a Luddite and resisted online payments for years. I'm looking forward to watching her join the 21st century.

Sorry you feel poorly @idahowalker . I'm sure it's just a spring cold. Don't want you to be #27 in Ada county. My online yoga class went off without a hitch. Who woulda thought a bunch of old fogies could pull off a Zoom meeting. I found my curmudgeonly self quite surprised by how good it felt to see all the familiar faces.

After talking with my Dr., this AM, I have, what's considered, a mild form of COVID19 Verified by testing or just based on symptoms? Any idea where you would have picked it up? Either way... wishing you a speedy recovery.

Hello It’s rainy here and we still went down the road to her bus stop to get her school meals and the weeks homework packet. My laundry room roof is leaking, and I realize it was last year but I blamed our cat for peeing on my washing machine lid. Big yellow puddle, but no longer have a cat.
So far, everyone still healthy here. My husband is working a jigsaw puzzle for the first time in years and our yard is looking really good. I don’t think the whole two acres has ever been mowed this early in the year before.
I’m frustrated but accepting that all the medical appointments I finally managed to make, girl’s dentist, son’s wisdom tooth extraction; before his insurance comes off my husband’s on his 26 th birthday next week, mine for Parkinson’s at a neurologist/psychologist are all being cancelled one phone call at a time.
Life is strange but still, have a good one all yinz

Surprise snowstorm... We just got back from sledding at the local State Park. We saw 4 people... the closest was 100 yards away.

The resident golden eagle is back, casting his ginormous shadow across the neighborhood.
