The title says it all. I want to buy a replacement pair of laces for my boots but don't know where to go. Are hiking boot laces specialized and different than work boot laces? I know there are many different laces on the different brands so I want to go with durable and well made...was that redundant??? Thanks for the help!

What Captain Resistance said. Go to your local store - REI or whatever - buy them long, cut and burn to taste. There are different types - some are solid, some have a core and wrapper - so if you like what just broke make sure you get the same for a replacement.
I may get flogged for this, but they're just laces.

Hmmm...I'm recommending Lawson Equipment's Technora ToughLaces. Super durable, inch-long metal aglets (lace tips) that won't crack or split, and many size options to get just the right length: lawsonequipment.com/Technora-ToughLaces-c150/BUT...the page doesn't let you select a product for purchase so I wonder if they are just out of stock right now or what.

Regarding the Lawson laces - "They are 8 times stronger than steel, fire resistant up to 932 degree F, highly abrasion resistant, hard as hell to cut..."
Not sure I need all that. Most likely I'll die sometime before 932F, and if I can't cut them to the proper length then they're not much good to me.
Having said that, Lawson makes/sells good stuff.

I actually really like paracord for boot laces. Take your time and put a lighter to the ends to melt them. They last forever.

Why is it that the worst dressers like to give out fashion advice?

Why is it that the worst dressers like to give out fashion advice? Seriously, my advice is solid on the laces. If leather is good for boots, more is better. If gold is good for the economy, gold tipped laces is...well, who cares. Those laces look awesome and they're probably worth a mint.

So what you're saying is I oughtta pimp my boots to look cool on the trail? If nothing else, you will look like a backpacker pimp. Reuben is my pimp. He makes me dress like this on the trail. I'm his...well, nevermind. This is a family forum kind of.
