A couple weeks ago Winco Foods had bulk MREs. I have no idea if they are good, but we bought a few to try. Now that I am newly gluten-free (thank you auto-immune disease), along with other food intolerances, I'm not sure I'll be able to eat any. Some of the choices sounded yummy.
But MRE.... can they be tasty? Also, they had no warming instructions, so I assume you'd just stick them in boiling water?
Some were $1.59 each some were over $2. Is that a good price?

MRE entrees (a single pouch) generally cost within the price range you provided. you'd just stick them in boiling water? After the water boils, turn off the stove and let them sit for 5 minutes. Can they be tasty? I am biased and say yes!

But MRE.... can they be tasty? I'm pretty sure that some Irish person somewhere (maybe even my dad, referring to our boiled dinners) said: "Hunger is the best ingredient"

What's worse than one MRE? MRE's in bulk.

Thanks! My husband and I thought we'd take a day trip and try some for lunch. I was kinda worried that they'd be gross, but I'm willing to give it a go. I always worry about sodium content. I am pretty sensitive to sodium and usually make our own backpacking "insta-meals" where I can control how much salt goes in. If I need more salt, I bring some in a small container and add as needed.

If you are worried about sodium, you should avoid MRE's. And most commercial freeze dried. Mt House is almost so salty I can't eat it.

Just go ahead and get it over with and then you can come up with your own acronym.
