I didn't think they were terrible, some were actually pretty good. Certain ones are less desirable than others, as my personal taste goes, but I didn't seem to have the issues others had. I didn't like living on them for months at a time, but a few days or a meal here and a meal there wasn't bad.

On a weekend when I'll carry Chinese takeout or cold pizza why not? Otherwise since my routes are well watered MREs being fully hydrated means carrying water I otherwise could simply grab st my campsite. And at 2 lbs the quart, no thanks.
