hikercman, You'll have 2 audiences, the newbies and the experienced. I'm wondering what you're planning to either combine or segue from newbie to experienced, that will hold the interest of the latter. I'm thinking that the newbie portions would be pretty basic and might not appeal to the experienced, so how would you plan to address that issue? Not being critical, just wondering.

How about following one of those groups that takes inner city kids into the wilderness?

A short film based upon a 4-5 day hike...Things that would hold my interest - Interesting, yet non-annoying personalities. Interesting filming techniques - Filming from multiple angles, slo-mo, smooth panning, filming with Gimbal...ALWAYS, filming from drone (yes...I realize I will get feedback from this suggestion). Difficult challenge - Extreme weather and terrain. A story line - A goal to be reached both in relationship bonding and physical goals. Surprise - A few things that are not expected as in river crossings, glacier travel, rock climbing. learn specific skills - Multiple navigational methods, night travel, survival methods as it relates to food or shelter.

I like stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. I enjoy documentaries on uber-athletes and peak baggers too but I love to hear about those who don't let the nay-sayers get in the way and just go for it. The under-dogs and the obscure heroes. Especially if they're women. Not enough great adventures featuring women.

Grizzly James should make a transient appearance at a camp in the middle of the night, just as the main characters are about to turn in. He will deliver a soliloquy in near total silence regarding an adventure from many years in his past to the barely discernable silhouettes outlined by the faint glow of the dying fire's embers. The tale may perhaps include a slight mention of a lost love or other fond yet rueful memory, and then he will be gone. That is some lovely writing, Reuben. Indeed! And it ricochets with a heady truth that I cannot deny. Seems like I am for always and mostly, late to the game. Oft times stumbling in when most others have already departed, where upon I suckle on the pulpy remains of once stimulating conversation. It is my lot, both on the trail and in life's swift decline. Man.. -GJ

Man.. You seriously tug on my heart strings with your lyrical painting. You are the Georges Seurat of words and poetry.

How about following one of those groups that takes inner city kids into the wilderness? Back home we called'em "Hoods in the Woods" Here in Utah, many of these youth rehabilitation groups are infamous for abusing young people in the backcountry. Sounds like the making of a great expose documentary.

Man.. See? That's what I'm talkin' 'bout. He's no screenwriter (I don't think), but he sure can weave the words.
