I don't agree with all Travis says--not every trip has a plot. . . And that is why, in my view, not every trip is worth a trip report — much less a film-length documentary. But ultimately it is every writer's or film-maker's choice. Sometimes we make things for our own memories. That is a different purpose than for making a marketable product. But if you want to garner an audience, you either give them what they want or make them want what you give them. It makes no sense for an artist to blame an audience for not gathering around his work. The obligation is entirely on the artist to entice his or her audience into going along. It's a free marketplace.

No Trail, Western Canada, roughly three weeks and 100 miles as the crow flies. Let me know when you're packed to film me and I'll get my backpack ready. I assume the film will pay for our trip? I like that Tigger. That's good thinking. The film will also need to cast some one capable of portraying the art of napping aside a glacial stream. Some one who could pull it off with Meryl Streep like effectiveness. I of course offer my services as humble as they might be for the betterment of the picture. That is if the money is right. Good talent isn't cheap! -GJ

Sometimes we make things for our own memories. That is a different purpose than for making a marketable product. A valid point. And part of why I mostly like TRs with lots of pretty pictures, which are their own raison d'etre. There is also validity in sharing trips here just because we all like to know about the various trails and options--it does make a decent resource when thinking about where to go next. Though more organization of those TRs would be helpful. Hmm...

That's why she'll do the actual acting - you know, the speaking parts. You'd probably want to rewrite a lot of the lines, though.

If it's going to be a great movie, it needs Nazis. So... Idaho?

Grizzly James should make a transient appearance at a camp in the middle of the night, just as the main characters are about to turn in. He will deliver a soliloquy in near total silence regarding an adventure from many years in his past to the barely discernable silhouettes outlined by the faint glow of the dying fire's embers. The tale may perhaps include a slight mention of a lost love or other fond yet rueful memory, and then he will be gone.

Would there be any interest in watching someone's progress from relative novice to gaining the equipment, skills, and knowledge to tackle a real hiking challenge? Some of the "new guy" vids I've seen on the net interest me if only because some of their problems are ones I also had and I can commiserate with them. In other cases, they learned something different from me, which can also be interesting. Just a thought. Regardless, I fully support the title given by trinity but also think reuben should make at least one cameo appearance, kilted while carrying a fine single malt and a slab of bacon.

Looks like we'll have two new celebrity actors. But Zeke is Scotch - shouldn't he be in kilts as well, perhaps carrying a bagpipe for an evening's dance before lights out?

What about following a hiker with real physical challenges? Their work to overcome added challenges, the indomitable human spirit, those who support their effort?
