Just out of curiosity, what is your dream hike and why? If you have already managed to make your dream trek, what did you think of it? Was it as good as you thought it would be? I have a few things on my bucket list, but my dream hike wasn't on it. That's because I thought I'd never be able to get to achieve it. Exactly two years ago, I managed to complete it. The hike: Head up the Baltoro Glacier to Concordia and then to K2's basecamp, in the Karakorams. For me K2, not Everest, has always been the mountain. Here's a link to the trip report: Throne room of the mountain gods (Karakorams, July 2013)The trip above was better than I could have imagined. However, for an entire year afterwards, I remained somewhat demotivated and did not want to do anything else; what else was going to equal that?! It took that entire year, followed by a trip to Acadia National Park last year before I got the juices flowing once more.

In Colorado, there is almost no limit to the "dream hikes" available. I did a day hike here a few years ago and wouldn't mind going to back to do a bit more exploring.

There is a hike across the highlands of Scotland from coast to coast. It is a supported hike where they ship clean clothing for you to bed & breakfasts that you stay at along the way. Not exactly roughing it, but sounds like a fantastic way to see the highlands. This is what I am doing next May, as long as I am alive.

Most parts of all the American long trails while they are available. Followed by European GRs, but heard the town stops need about 2 days apiece to take in the history.

I don't think I've ever done my dream trip and I'm not sure exactly what it is but I'm thinking Olympic National Park, Hoh Valley up to the Bailey Range and loop back down somewhere.

I don't have a particular dream hike. My two favorite biomes are alpine and desert. I like anything that has rocks and plants and not many people. That pretty well sums it up for me, too. And sometimes a wild bit of coastline.

Galiwalker has a point, too. I didn't have last summer's Peru hikes on any bucket list. I hadn't really even heard of the specific areas, though "gee, the Andes would be cool" had crossed my mind once or twice. But I'm sure glad my brother-in-law had it on HIS list, and invited us, because that was a great trip.
Honestly, I've had very few trips (particularly of more than one night) that haven't been worthwhile and memorable in their own ways.

My dream trip is to explore a region by bike with the ability to stash the bike and set off backpacking when and where I want.I have done this extensively in Florida but other areas at the top of my list in the US would be the Southern Appalachians(Tn,NC,Ga,Va),Adirondacks/Greens/Whites/etc.(NY/Vt/Nh/Me)and the Chugach range(Ak-the road into McCarthy would be awesome).Internationally, the Alps(France,Switzerland,Italy),Southern Alps(NZ),Patagonia(Chile),Lofoten Is/Fjords(Norway) and due to recent discussion on the now obsolete backpacker forum the Sikhote-Alin range/forest(Far-East Russia).

PCT - nothing else compares.
Don't expect I'll ever do it unless my life changes drastically.

PCT - nothing else compares. I get that urge. But I have to admit that, after doing our recent trip which used bits of the PCT/JMT but mostly went cross-country...I like the solitude of being off the main route. Makes the through-hike lose some of its charm, though I realize that a long distance hike is meant to be a different thing (and one that is probably not going to happen for us, either, unless we miraculously get younger).

I like above treeline, and have hiked there many, many times. the wind sounds different up there and I enjoy the tiny, but strong, alpine wildflowers. I've enjoyed lots of good hikes in Alaska, Colorado and Montana.

Have hiked many parts of this area at one time or another, but if I had to pick my dream hike it would be from Green River Lakes to Sweetwater over the course of a few weeks or a month. Taking many side trips like Island Lake, No Name, Cutthroat Lakes, Sauerkraut Lakes, and many, many others. Essentially backpacking and fishing my way across that section of the Winds. But I have never been out for more than seven nights so I'd have a lot to learn about extended hikes, perhaps even needing to be resupplied because I can't carry what I usta could. Thinking mid August to mid September. Perhaps I'd catch my first Golden!
