Well, folks, it would appear as if I skipped the intro and just jumped right in and started posting. I reckon as how that goes right along with my personality.
A bit of history: Born and raised in the foothills of the Smokey Mtns. close to Lake Lanier. While there, I and my friends backpacked, spelunked, and rock climbed all over North Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and North Carolina. In the mid-seventies we moved to Mississippi and I pretty much gave up on all of that fun with the exception of doing some car camping.
I spent a month in Cheyenne, WY a couple of years ago and the bug to hike and backpack has bitten again. Car camped after the job visiting Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Devil's Tower, Medicine Wheel in the Bighorn Mountains, and then on to Yellowstone. Although I am much older and slower along with having to have a couple of "repair and replace" jobs on the old body, I am still looking forward to it.
It has been a surprise to see how much gear has changed over the years. However, I still have my old Svea roarer and Sigg Tourister cookset. It will be hard to give the old girls up for lighter models!!!
In any event, here we are!

Welcome! How do you pronounce your handle? Is it like an Italian guy saying "I'm the man"? (I'm a da man!") Or are you saying "I'm a madman"?

Welcome. Others will most likely be along shortly with a variety of questions including topics such as bacon, kilts, single malt, and that evil, slimey vegitable which will not be mentioned by me.

It appears you have stumbled upon the Old-timer's club. Welcome. Here, we dream about our youth, and talk about walking around the block aided by some mechanical contraption, and a nurse who is too young for us. Sometimes we act like we are out in the woods, or the mountains, just because our feeble brains take us there. It's like Total Recall, only we can't remember shit. Join the crazies, or not. Nothing halfway accepted here, except pulling our zippers only halfway up cause we are forgetful.

Welcome! If you're easily offended, please ignore Zeke. And bacon-eating isn't required.

If you're easily offended, please ignore Zeke. The guy says he's a madman. How can anyone offend such a person?

The guy says he's a madman. How can anyone offend such a person? I don't know him well enough yet, Zeke. It could be Madman as in "I'm am awesome and insane" or more like "I use the good china on weeknights. Self-definition leaves room for speculation.

Kilts-My Mother was of Scottish ancestry-kilts must be worn commando style! Beets-Not my cup of tea... Brussels Sprouts-Neither are these... Pam vs Butter-I am a fan of the au naturel-cow salve is the way to go! Offended??? Almost impossible for a guy that has ridden in the back of an ambulance for 22+ years!!!

Beets-Not my cup of tea... See, that's where you went wrong! Using beets for tea? Bad idea. Now let me add my welcome to the mad man.
