...and Townes — To live is to fly.

Grantchester Meadows - Pink Floyd
"Icy wind of night be gone this is not your domain," In the sky a bird was heard to cry. Misty morning whisperings and gentle stirring sounds Belie the deathly silence that lay all around.
Hear the lark and harken to the barking of the dog fox Gone to ground. See the splashing of the kingfisher flashing to the water. And a river of green is sliding unseen beneath the trees Laughing as it passes through the endless summer Making for the sea.
In the lazy water meadow I lay me down. All around me golden sun flakes settle on the ground. Basking in the sunshine of a bygone afternoon Bringing sounds of yesterday into this city room.

Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt. Great to have so many cultured people on this board. Clark's Dublin Blues is about as close to perfect as a song gets.

...and Townes — To live is to fly. Already quoted on Page 1 of this thread. But, it never hurts to do it again.

Now he's all grown up with a flour sack cape tied all around his dreams And he's full of piss and vinegar, and he's bustin at the seams So he licked his finger and checked the wind, its gonna be do or die He wasnt scared of nothin, boys, he was pretty sure he could fly

I've always like his song, The Cape. My bad. I don't listen to many albums from start to finish except for "Together at the Bluebird Café" With Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark and Steve Earle. My all time favorite and the way they played each song I prefer over they're original album versions.

What's bad? Guy Clark's album, Dublin Blues is my favorite of his. The entire album is a masterpiece. Have you heard, "This One's For Him"? It his songs done by others. An all-star line-up. Ray Wilie Hubbard does Home Grown Tomatoes.

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder, You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger, May you never take one single breath for granted, GOD forbid love ever leave you empty handed, I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean, Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens, Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance, And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance, Never settle for the path of least resistance Livin' might mean takin' chances but they're worth takin', Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth makin', Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter, When you come close to sellin' out reconsider, Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance, And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance. I hope you dance....I hope you dance. (Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along, Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.)
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean, Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens, Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance, And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
Dance....I hope you dance. I hope you dance....I hope you dance. I hope you dance....I hope you dance.. (Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone)

One that always makes me chuckle:
"May the bird of paradise fly up your nose. May an elephant caress you with it's toes. May your wife be plagued with runners in her hose. May the bird of paradise fly up your nose." --Neal Merritt

Peter Gabriel-Here Comes the Flood I took the old track the hollow shoulder, across the waters On the tall cliffs they were getting older, sons and daughters The jaded underworld was riding high Waves of steel hurled metal at the sky and as the nail sunk in the cloud, the rain was warm and soaked the crowd.
