I don't know much about that, but my buddy Murphy told me the same thing once.

Every year when I get my REI dividend, my socks wear out.

Tax refund? I try to estimate closely, but keep it just a bit low so I write a check in April. This year, it is for $175. Got pretty close.

My tax refund is always pretty close to 0. It was $65 this year.
What gets me is medical bills. Last week, not 2 days after I wrote the last check to pay off the procedures from my daughters broken finger, my wife breaks her pinky toe. I suppose i'll get a few months while the orthopedic office decides how much to gouge me for, but then i'll be right back on another payment plan.

On the plus side, you're garage door opener didn't break when you didn't have the money available to fix it....

Easy come, easy go? Here's a story for you.
My bonus check was deposited yesterday. While at work yesterday, my house was broken into. 32" monitor, Harmon Kardon receiver, my backup drives, the title to my jeep were all taken. Left was the 1000 dollar bike, an 800 dollar camera and hundreds of CDs, the computer, a coin collection. It's spring break so I figure it was kids.
So, the bonus check will cover a new monitor and stereo receiver. But, now I have to spend the rest of the day resetting passwords because on one of the backup drives I'm sure was a copy of user names and passwords. Plus, now I have to cover up the bedroom window with plywood.

...but I just got the coolest Western Mountaineering sleeping bag and Big Agnes tent with my refund!

That really sucks, DD! Sorry to hear that. I assume your list of user names/passwords is encrypted? If so, that should slow any hacker down enough for you to change all passwords. Thanks, Ben. I've just finished changing the important passwords like for banks and investment accounts and yahoo email. I didn't change the one for BPBasecamp Forums, though. So, if I act out of character, there may be a reason.

Our system may not be perfect, but I do prefer it to this. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. And yours DD. This year I owe around $120 CAD, or some buttons and pocket lint in USD.

Refund? Not me. I guess I must have paid $70 to the IRS to avoid bad luck.

I paid it forward last year, for a change. Getting a small refund from the state and federal govs. We usually owe about the same. Hope it doesn't trigger an audit.

We haven't heard what our refund is yet, but it'll be spent as soon as it's in. ER bills, college tuition, fixing car, credit card debt.

What is this "Refund" of which you speak? It's when I refund the government by mailing them a check.
