Sha'Carri's staredown at the end of the 4x100. LOL! Perfect.
The men... not so perfect.

To me, the real embarrassment was Jamaica's men's 4x100. I think every pass was bad in their final, and the announcers didn't catch onto that until almost the end, only calling out one of the bad passes. They have such great sprinters - bad handoffs are the only thing that can keep them out of contention.
ETA: You must be talking about the finals. I haven't seen them yet, but I assume the men's is awful. False starts? Handoff outside the zone?

I wonder how many medals she would have won if she hadn't been booted from the previous Olympic team.

Elsewhere, Link at CNNThe difficulty of Jordan Chiles floor routine was underestimated. It was revised upward slightly after USA objected. That increased her score just enough to win the bronze. But now the claim is being made that the objection to the original score was not filed within the one-minute deadline. I'm trying to imagine how a mere one-minute deadline can even be real. It almost sounds like someone wants to sweep their mistake under the rug. But admittedly, I don't know all the details.

I'm both a US citizen and not a basketball fan, but man, I really have to feel for the French women's basketball team. So, so close.
I've seen many great athletes fall short at some point during their competition in these Olympics, in sports I understand as well in those I don't, in myriad agonizing ways, but they're all so wonderful.

I'm looking forward to the women's 1500m final.
Faith Kipyegon totally destroyed the field with seemingly plenty more in the tank.
I had hoped Nikki Hiltz could medal because she looked quite strong in the semis without working too hard. However, she looked fatigued from the start. Despite that, she stayed in good position until about 500m remained, when she had to slow a step due to some jostling in front of her. Instead of unleashing her customary blistering kick, she faded badly after that. It seems slightly more of a mental obstacle than a physical one, but given how she looked earlier, she may have already been using every bit of fortitude to overcome pre-existing fatigue.

It's unbelievable that he was able to move up like that despite breaking form so badly. That was sheer willpower.

The American team has reportedly filed an appeal with two timestamped videos showing the coach appealing twice, both times within the first minute. The IOC should have gone with both teams suggestion of just doing two bronze.

If the video evidence is accurate it's another black eye for the IOC.

“"The time-stamped, video evidence submitted by USA Gymnastics Sunday evening shows Landi first stated her request to file an inquiry at the inquiry table 47 seconds after the score is posted, followed by a second statement 55 seconds after the score was originally posted," USA Gymnastics said in its statement.”
Apple News.

I wouldn't be surprised if they accepted that the appeal was timely, but that scoring correction it provoked was undeserved.

I enjoyed the coverage of this Olympics much more than any I can recall. They put event coverage in front where it belongs, front and center, with fewer lengthy athlete profiles (but still some nice, shorter ones). They also dialed back the USA boosterism and provided more background and knowledgeable commentary on athletes from around the world. It sounded much less than it has in the past like announcers were simply reading someone else's descriptions without genuine understanding or acknowledgement. Maybe that's because there were more former athletes doing coverage and fewer big-name sportscasters.
