Definitely a lamb. We broke the city record for the number of 80 degree days in a row, twice. 80's all this week and maybe almost 90 tomorrow. But, low 60's this coming Monday.

The only way to really know the answer to this question is to be outdoors every night backpacking in the cold (or the heat) and THEN file a full report. Unfortunately I'm sitting indoors at a computer and have no clue. But I'll be out soon enough.

Am I missing something...?
Did you take that picture of the kitties? If so, wow!

Yep...that is why I was asking the question. I specifically went to the south end of Bishop on March 1 to watch the new lambs. Yesterday I went up to Rock Creek to go XC skiing (which I didn't do...terrible snow,) and I was delighted to come across mountain lion triplets...probably close to being yearlings. So exciting! I've seen mountain lions, around home and in Yosemite, but never had the opportunity to get photos.

Very rare circumstance superb image, well done hc395! Of course in your case it is not just luck but rather you are out and about outdoors in the Eastern Sierra in areas lions live so often that chance became more likely.
A decade ago a view camera friend and I came across 2 huge mountain lions in McGee Creek Canyon about a 1/4 mile up from the parking lot that made the local news. In our case the lions were just a dozen feet away when we surprised them. The only lions I ever come across that have actually seen. A biologist in OV said there were several mating pairs along the eastern slopes.

Lucky you, that's a sight to be seen for sure.
And to answer your question more directly, our largest snowstorm this season was on March 1st. Along with all the problems that causes in the big city.

I live in mountain lion country but the cats are rarely seen. One was in the next door neighbor's yard last fall. Another neighbor was a mountain lion tracker until funds dried up.
As far as weather here, in the Eastern Sierra, March arrived quite mild. It was in the 70*'s here the past couple days and up at Rock Creek...at 9000' at East Fork, it was 45* at 9am. The snow had melted and froze solid for many days and yesterday it was frozen, so not good for skiing.
Hopefully the weather will turn lion-like here very soon...

Those are amazing pics. Very nice.
In my neck of eastern Pennsylvania, it is a really weird March. It was warm on the 1st (50 degrees) and now we'll have snow tonight. I suppose that isn't weird for this part of the country in March.

March 3rd weather report from the National Weather Service: [/u] continued the entire day. Visibility was zero for this day except for a period of 2 hours & 43 minutes. Winds ranged up to more than 70 mph. Temperatures ranged from 6 to 18 degrees." [/ul]No, not today but many years ago. That's early March weather as I fondly remember it. Today, it's sunny, mild, and 55°F (13°C). March came in like a pet bunny rabbit. That's pathetic to my sense of adventure. And I am so very jealous of your mountain lion photos. I've had many close encounters with the big cats, but they never bothered to pose for me like that.

Congrats on the great Mtn Lion captures !!! I've seen several before, fairly close, but it was years ago, while riding on my regular foothills MTB trails, long before the invention of a light pocket sized "digicam", so I have no photos of them.
