thedude, there might be 2 or three sets of the packs we used still circulating among member, at least of the old forums. I think we went through 4 sets—the super-tiny ones when they were preschoolers, then something that was big enough for their clothes and snack and a water bottle, then the Deuter Fox 30 and later the Fox 4. I think after that they moved into adult packs, but I know our older child used an oversized daypack until adulthood. Other people jumped sizes as their kids grew faster. (Our eldest, at 25, is still slightly shorter and a lot skinnier than I am). I think there are more choices out there now for kids.

The Scarpa Rush TRK was 40% off at Backcountry.com, but I couldn't decide to pull the trigger until the next day -- but for some reason they changed the discount to 25%. eta: I checked again, still 25% off so I started a chat and said I'd buy at 40% off -- and they agreed! Well, 2 weeks went by with no updates and no package tracker, so I called customer service. To make the purchase at 40% off after the discount was changed to 25%, the online rep had to do a special setup for me to complete the deal. Long story short, it was out of stock. There had been 1 left at the time so maybe someone else snatched it before the rep could secure it for me, or it went missing (I work in a distribution center, so I know these things happen). The customer service person I spoke to said they were holding the order and payment until it gets restocked. Who the heck knows when that might be, so I canceled the order. Didn't really need the boots right now but I tend to wear them out, and the Scarpa Rush TRK had a lot of good reviews. 40% off was hard to pass up.

I bought my eldest a Fjallraven backpack for school a few years ago and it has held up so well that my youngest now uses it as his school bag. Their stuff is expensive, but it holds up much better than the Ryan's World garbage that gets destroyed in like 6 months.
