I feel a special kinship with this area because, like my heart, it is a Devastated Area

Boy there is a LOT of relief in that photo. Hard to believe it's not even 10,500' high.

Ok, I think I know the city. But quick googling, I can't find the park. But gotta be the Superstitions?

The namesake of this state park had 36 children & a brother named "Zerubabbel"
The film made here that might have contributed to the death of a Hollywood legend (and much of the cast & crew) did not receive glowing reviews, ironically.

A couple more questions: Was the namesake's brother's name "Zerubabble Snow"? Was the city founded to grow cotton one of the following: Santa Clara, St. George, or Washington?

Yes, and yes.
Local Native Americans referred to the city's namesake as "Non-choko-wicher", or "man who takes himself apart", after witnessing him remove his hair, glasses, and false teeth.

Doesn't everyone know this is Snow Canyon State Park? Just hiked it in October after the St. George Marathon.

Here is Erastus Snow, who led the establishment of St. George in 1861 when Brigham Young & friends were concerned that the outbreak of the Civil War would cut off their supply of cotton. I guess this is about as happy as a man with 36 children can possibly look. And here is John Wayne at Snow Canyon in 1954 while filming The Conqueror. He's checking out a Geiger counter, which was "crackling so loud he thought it was broken". 11 nuclear bombs were detonated above ground in Nevada in 1953, including "Harry": Due to a miscalculation and change in wind-direction, this Upshot–Knothole test released an unusually large amount of fallout (the highest of any test in the continental U.S.), much of which later accumulated in the vicinity of St. George, Utah.Of course the local residents suffered worse than the film cast & crew - the "Downwinders" are still fighting today for more government help to deal with all the disease caused by the nuclear fallout. Hollywood and the downwinders still grapple with nuclear fallout And everyone experiences pain & trauma if they sit through The Conqueror, which has been voted one of the 50 worst films of all time. Wayne, portraying Genghis Khan, received a Golden Turkey Award for Worst Casting. Oh the cringe.

Boy, even the trailer is lousy.
Titanic in Scope, Titanic in Spectacle, Titanic in Action!
Plus Genghis Khan with a John Wayne accent, What could go wrong?
um. The Titanic sank, didn't it?
