Meanwhile, is anyone going to actually name that outcrop? Still don’t know just where Travis was standing when he took the photos, though.

I thought my "four great wasichus" was correct, but apparently it's not Mount Rushmore. My impression of the first pic was it looked like South Dakota, though I didn’t know the formation from that view.

I want to answer, but I also don’t want to have to post the next photo…

I thought my "four great wasichus" was correct, but apparently it's not Mount Rushmore. The "four great wasichus" was good. And you hiked up the peak last summer.

The peak (place where I took the photos) has the same name now as the wilderness area in which the peak is located.

The peak (place where I took the photos) has the same name now as the wilderness area in which the peak is located. Black Elk Peak, South Dakota (highest point in the US east of the Rockies)

Black Elk Peak, South Dakota (highest point in the US east of the Rockies) Black Elk Peak is correct, and your "translation" of the "four great wasichus" was correct: Mount Rushmore. I would add that Black Elk Peak is no longer considered "east" of the Rockies, but rather part of the Rockies. The Black Hills are the easternmost extension of the Rockies (see NPS under "Landscape Description"). Anyway, your turn. Looks to me like you answered both my questions.

The peak I'm standing on in the northeast US is known for its high winds, among other things.

Then I am going to guess Mt. Wooden Teeth...aka, the doller Bill. I figured this one wouldn't last long, though you should still state the official name of this peak. Tag, you're it.

Is the photo taken from the Paradise Mountain Trailhead? How about the Devastated Area Loop Trailhead?
