One aspect of bird photography that I am starting to enjoy more is discovering just how colourful some birds are , compared to the way we see them. Often it's the feathers but the eyes can also be very different too, Depending on the angle of the light , the eyes of the Black Cormorant appear to be a dull brown or.. the common Welcome Swallow looks black and white but...

That bird looks like it flew into a loaded palette.

From yesterday. I spotted this Hobby at the top of a dead tree. As I was getting there it flew to another tree, then did the same again. When I arrived at the last spot it had disappeared. So I waited around and within a few minutes it arrived back with that bird. I took a few photos then as I was checking the images another Hobby arrived there causing the first to fly away. I had seen those two on the same tree a few days ago but I don't know as yet what the relashionship is.

Some neighbors a few blocks away have free-range peacocks. I finally saw one displaying for a female, though of course I was driving, not walking, so had to just shoot from the car. Still, I like the way the female is checking him out!

Great Blue Herons really don’t look like they belong perched in a tree.

Great Blue Herons really don’t look like they belong perched in a tree. They don't like they belong anywhere, except wading in a stream! They shouldn't even fly; they should just glide.

Great Blue Herons really don’t look like they belong perched in a tree. True. We live on a lake and they typically nest all along our shore. One sees them in trees occasionally, and it always looks so wrong.

Peacocks should only just stand around, with minimal movement, looking pretty.

Great Blue Herons really don’t look like they belong perched in a tree. Then you've never seen turkeys roosting in trees.

with a couple of Egrets This is one of two Herons born on that tree. The nest is visible above it.
