I will admit: I generally regard the western half of the US as far more scenic than the eastern half. Thanks for occasionally causing me to question that position.

Well, I still think the western half of the country is prettier, but the eastern half does have its own charm.

The flora of the Rockies can't compete with that of the Appalachians. That's an awesome year to reflect upon man! Thanks for sharing.
Cloudwalker did a contest and he made a calendar of the winning photos, was awesome.

That's an awesome year to reflect upon man! Thanks for sharing. You're welcome! I can't remember exactly how long I've been constructing a calendar...maybe 17yrs? It began, and remains, a way for me, as you say, to reflect upon the past year. Every month, when we turn the page of our calendar, I get a flood of memories from some trip or the other that I did the previous year. Throughout the year, on my hiking trips, I always make sure to take at least one photo in landscape orientation of some composition or the other that I'm trying out, just in case I need to put it in my calendar. For the 2021 calendar, I began with 87 photos, selected from pictures taken over the past 12 months. I whittled these down to maybe 15 or so, being extremely ruthless. At the end it was a a choice between one out of three options. My favorite one of the three did not make it, for this reason: It was a selfie and I was wearing warm clothing, because the photo was taken in early spring; unfortunately, the slot I was trying to fill was a summer month. Such a seemingly frivolous reason, but that's the difference between picking your 12 best photos of the year vs. constructing a calendar.

My wife has surprised me before by taking my pics and turning them into calendar but it's been a while so I might have to do this myself this year. Thanks for the inspiration.

It’s a lot of fun, both to put it together and then over the course of the next year.

Each year, I put one picture on 1/4 of a calendar page and use the rest with double stick tape to scrapbook. These are the 12 I used this year

For me, yes! I’m very visual and notice light, texture and color before almost anything with my other senses. I know that’s why I love pictures to the level of obsession but my family are more auditory, so if I want their appreciation I have to pick a few favorites instead of bombarding them with all. They will look at a calendar

Every year I say I'm going to make a calendar, and every year I don't. That's my tradition.
