Understandable they’d call for the pros. That possum hiss is fierce!. And those are big teeth.,.
A neighbor in San Diego left out cat food for her cats and possums figured it out. So it was a tad routine to walk out into the courtyard and get hissed at by a possum partway up a tree.

It's a long story, but while trying to trap a groundhog that was playing Havoc with my garden I once trapped a possum and put it in a coworker's office early one morning, still in the trap. To shorten the story one hissed, the other screamed, and the former peed on the window ledge.
Security escorted the possum outside, passing someone we were interviewing on the way.
