It's been snowing the last week at my Chicagoland home.

Clouds, a t-storm yesterday, and cooler temps are saving my sanity. I was able to work in the yard all morning, and can still plan on a long hike this afternoon.

First awful weekend of the summer here: mid-90s and super muggy.

This thread needs a soundtrack. More Bad Weather on the Way by Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers.

I drove through a derecho last night on the Thunder Basin National Grassland in NE Wyoming. Documented 70 mph wind gusts with pouring rain in that area. Up to 94 mph winds gusts in another area. It was the Wyoming rendition of a hurricane. No better description. Very intense for a half hour or more. I enjoyed every minute of it.

Rain starting this evening with plummeting temps. Snow by the time we wake up. :D

Had snow in the air last night. It got down into the 20's. This morning, there was no snow in town. But there was on the hills outside of town. Higher up, there were several inches.

Intense storms late this afternoon, brief heavy downpours, 59 to 60 mph winds with possibilities of up to 70 mph, and so far 300K+ w/o power. My power went off 5 times, but fortunately went back on.
We have tree snow as well; looking out the window and watching the cottonwood tufts drifting down was like watching a snowstorm, but the latter is more lovely. The cottonwood is just a nuisance, affecting breathing, and leaving clumps that start new cottonwoods that have to be dug out.

Since it's only 99 degrees, I'm going for a bike ride downtown to get a beer.

Another long cool wet spring here in the Midatlantic. Great for hiking and cycling. Not bad for kayaking once the chill works off, but don't let the temps fool you into not wearing sunscreen or taking similar protective measures. My lettuce loves it, tomatos are OK with it, peppers are stunted, wanting a blanket and warmer soil temps. We're having 60F nights with 70F days. Pretty sweet for 'round here in mid-June. The long range forecast is that we'll start to burn in late June. www.weather.gov/media/dvn/CR%20Climate%20Outlook%20Apr%202020.pdf
