I feel for you jazzmom...all I have to do is drive 10 mi east to any of my job sites out in rural Weld County, and it's like a completely different State than Colorado......Prepper capital of CO, "Patriot"/ Militia/ Secessionist Central..Restaurants advertise "No masks required here", despite State mandates 10' long Trump flags and 20 yard signs are not enough....everyone is now flying these in their yards...and I mean 90% of any given block...

I think we're learning that there are a lot more of these rebel people than we ever realized. I'm still shocked that so many are in Michigan.

Driving across the midwest was a bit of a shocker, for sure. Soooo many huge Trump signs. I know exactly what Jazzmom meant—it’s hard to be in a place you love, and realize that you abhor the politics of the people who live there. It tarnishes the beauty, somehow, that there can be so much hatred amidst it (and yes, I do associate Trumpism with hatred, however much many of his supporters will deny they support that aspect of him). And I’d better stop there or I’ll have to move myself to TPA! 😂
Back to COVID: as far as I could tell, of all the states I drove through, only Missouri didn’t have signs at the rest stops indicating that masks are required to enter the building. You can bet I wore mine all the more tightly therel!

it’s hard to be in a place you love, and realize that you abhor the politics of the people who live there. Yesterday's Trump rally was at a small airfield where my father and I used to go to annual air shows. They were nowhere as large as the more commercial ones, including those at Selfridge, but they were very impersonal and a nice way to meet other plane aficionados. I hope I don't think of Trump and his minions now every time I pass that charming little field. BTW, people I know are starting to stock up again in anticipation of another shutdown and amidst rumors of supplies of some stables already declining.

All four of us have something. Sniffles and aches and possible corona symptoms. Son-26 just got back from Sacramento taking a client to a dental appointment and husband-57 had had someone in his office at work in a large prison who later tested positive. Probably just a cold, but not worth a risk.
Granddaughter-6 has no fever, but sounds like her nose is plugged, she says “I have the sniffles” she hasn’t been going to anything but online school yet, but other people have in our family I have a really runny nose, a strange pain in my gums, and my throat burns like I have heartburn, but it’s a different sore throat than I’ve ever felt. Son-26 had a bit of a stuffed nose two days ago, a baseball sized knot on his shoulderWednesday and still on Thursday too, and yesterday he had a bad headache for hours. Husband is just aching and congested.
He got tested Thursday at work, but I just looked up where to go on a a Saturday this morning. CVS lets people with symptoms test 7 days a week, over 16 years old. So I scheduled an 11:10 appointment and went in, but won't know until maybe Tuesday. Still anyone who complains about that swab has never had a Pap smear.

Trick or Treat tonight was frightening indeed. It was no different than usual, except nobody was wearing a mask. We turned off most of the lights and hid.

(Sunday November 1, 2020) About an hour ago, the local testing center called to let me know I had a positive test. I expected it as I started being symptomatic yesterday afternoon, day eight after exposure. Damn, this bug is incredible. My first dinner guest since February Friday before last came by for a quick meal after she had given an in-service to another clinic. Minimal contact. Two days after the dinner, I got a message from my friend that she was sick. Since I was not showing symptoms at day three, the local Public Health wanted 5 days before a swab test. I ordered a free spit test from the state if I wanted a "double tap".
I have not had flu in 11 years? Only one cold-bronchitis in the same time. I do not have FT adult supervision, but close friends to help. I have already been self-isolated in the last nine days, so I have exposed no one. Contact tracing will be easy.

We "tailgated" with our "pod-family" friends yesterday. Sat in their driveway and watched the Michigan-Michigan State football game. It was chilly but sunny; we bundled up, ate, drank, watched Michigan lose a game they should have have won... some things haven't changed. My friend told me that they're back to the same COVID task force/strategy sessions at UMich hospital like they were in the spring. She said they know more now, have more defined treatment strategies. But she also said their staff is at a bare minimum, after layoffs, attrition, and so many sidelined with PTSD and family leave. Michigan saw record new COVID cases last week. If we're tired, just imagine how those frontline health workers feel. :( echo, I hope your family is just experiencing seasonal allergies, colds. I've been in negotiations for a new job and I think it's going to happen. I wasn't looking but an old co-worker reached out with a pretty cool opportunity. I'm excited but life changes feel so stressful right now.

rangewalker, wishing you a speedy recovery. You’re right, this is a crazy bug. I have a friend from high school, in Cheyenne Wyoming now. She was sick for over 100 days and just starting to feel better when the smoke from the fires around there hit. She almost died from a second hospitalization from the effects of that but finally is recovering. We are all four feeling Better. Daisy and Emerson are acting totally normal. Meaning she has announced this morning that she changed her real name to Hermione Grace Goode. She changes the first name every few days but never the middle or the last because those make her part of our family. I’m breathing better but still a little stuffed up and my headache is way down. Last night I was over 100* and today 97.9. Greg says he feels weak and has a mild headache but not feeling sick. His test should show up tomorrow and mine on Tuesday

rangewalker Please take care of yourself. Make sure someone is checking in on you a couple of times a day. Don't be so isolated you wait too long to go to the ER. I still have your ph number, and if you don't mind I'll call you in a few days.
