Good grief, Mike. I'm really glad you're more-or-less ok after the accident.
I'm far from the first to make the suggestion, but yea, you may want to go have a chat with a lawyer. You shouldn't end up in financial straights due to medical bills.

I've been mostly wearing neon yellow-green for biking for years Same here. Mixed with a touch of electric blue. Tip of the Day: Bright green and red are not good color choices. About 5% of drivers (1 in 20) will see you as bright gray.

Ouch. Here's hoping for a speedy recovery free of too many complications. You'll be ambidextrous before you know it.

I always wondered about that, especially after my nephew said, "slug bug, Pink" and the VW was actually sky blue
And I know, for predators the brick red baby bison, are camouflaged in new spring grass green

Sorry to hear this, sure hope you have a speedy recovery. Good advice on safety. There is an increasing number inattentive drivers these days it seems, one reason I drive an ambulance..

I was not happy to see this news after taking my weekly jaunt into the backcountry. But after seeing that you will mend, I thought immediately about your research project in Greenland. I don't know why. But I'm glad that will be okay also. And your positive attitude is impressive. Hang onto that.
I have to say though, that I'd get every penny I could get from any settlement.
I wish you a speedy recovery.

Well, that first morning after the wreck I was overwhelmed with a simple joy to still be alive and functioning. I'm still thankful for all that, but after a couple days here it's starting to sink in what an ordeal this is going to be. Multiple insurance companies and policies to deal with (5 insurance companies at current count), a major surgery scheduled next Wednesday, and despite multiple medical coverages I'm likely to start getting sizeable bills from a whole slew of medical providers before long. I had my 2nd CAT scan this morning to see how many titanium plates I'll need screwed into my about-to-be-bionic shoulder next Wednesday. Haven't even looked into PT and the rest of the longer ordeal yet.
I need help to shower, to button my pants, to eat, even to get in & out of bed to take a pee. I can't pick up my kids or have a hug. I can't even reach for my phone if I'm sitting down and it's more than a couple feet away. I feel like an invalid.
The positive feelings are still there, but it's getting hard to keep that mood. This is frustrating.
I am pursuing legal options, and may stop posting updates about it soon. In the meantime, I'm trying hard to keep my head up as reality sinks in, hope you don't mind if I rant a bit.

I just learned that after surgery next week I'll get a Handicap parking pass for awhile. ROCK STAR PARKING, whoo-hoo!!!
Small victories, I'll take it.

Glad you're okay (not as good as well, but better than bad, as in comatose, paralyzed, or dead).

"GIMP PARKING"? Would you like to reconsider using that term?

I guess I didn't realize that was offensive? I have no qualms calling myself a gimp right now, I can rephrase if that's upsetting, although I'd be genuinely curious to hear why. Hadn't ever heard of that being offensive before.

It's a derogatory term.
My wife was disabled during the last three months of her life. Having accessible parking spaces was very important to her independence and the quality of her life. I didn't/don't think of her as a "gimp" - I think of her as beautiful.
Of course you're free to refer to yourself however you like. Hopefully you don't think it's okay to refer to a person with paraplegia, an amputation, MS, etc., etc. as a "gimp."
